The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.

I might be missing something here, but whilst understanding the waist of resources and traffic dramas etc surely no one deserves 5 years in jail for this?
Maybe a company fine in the form of a charitable dontation or something to that affect but if its been a successful ad campaign in 5 other US cities with no problems whatsoever then IMO maybe Boston needs to lighten up a little and the authorities should stop trying to relate everything to terrorisim as its a shirt they've worn for far too long.

But Surely they could have applied for a permit of some kind, Or at least let the city know about what they were doing?

Yeah I agree with you on that one, it just seems strange that such issues didn't present themselves in the 5 cities prior to Boston? In any case the company as a whole should be made liable, if they were in England they'd get a fine as our jails are too full!!

I don't think these guys should be locked up. There was no malicious intent. I would imagine they were so locked into the idea that they knew was all about a cartoon character, that it prevented them looking at it from an outsiders viewpoint. Careless maybe, an oversight, but not a serious crime. Let's concentrate on the real terrorists folks and as for these guys, slap their little wrists.

I take it the maximum penalty is a five year prison term.
I don't think anybody is suggesting the alledged perpetrators get the max. That sort of sentence would be more appropriate if the act was staged with malicious intent.

I think I can understand where the city is coming from. Just mention or joke about a bomb while lining up for a flight and you will miss the flight and be charged. Unfortunately because of recent history it is no longer a joking matter.
I do agree that jail time is probably not appropriate and also that their bosses deserve to have their knuckles rapped as well.
Alerting the authorities beforehand may have helped but how many average people were upset by this silly stunt.
Somewhat like a doctor telling a patient, just for the fun of it, that s/he is seriously ill.
Try entering a bank and jokingly say "This is a hold up." That could get you shot.
