Since last Wednesday Zakk has been sick with vomitting and diahrea. I thought he was getting over it this weekend, but he started vomitting again Saturday night. I took him to the ER yesterday and they ran lab work and did X-rays. His lab work showed he was dehydrated. However they gave him scrips for Pepcid-AC and Tylenol 3. And had orders to get him to drink. The poor kids has puked up everything he's eaten or drank since yesterday. And I'm having to wait to see if his doctor can fit him in today.
I'm just so frustrated :-5

Happened with my daughter once, they took her in hospital and kept her there for 5 days on a drip. Poor little love, could you not take him straight up to the hosp?

I bet he is too. That's a long time to be unable to keep things down. Those liquid electrolytes ought to keep him safe until it's done with. I hope he's well again soon.

Argh is right the poor little mite
Yeah like spot said, liquid electrolytes, do you get pedialite there ? Try it. I dunno I believe for everything a kid pukes up you just have to get more liquid in again, surely every little bit helps.
What in gods name did they perscribe T3's for?? That makes no sense unless he is in some serious pain????

I have not idea why they prescribed the T3's or the pepcid. But his doctor called back and she can fit him in at 4:30 this afternoon. Yea it's a couple of hours away, but not gonna gripe since she's fitting him into her booked afternoon.
We have the pedialyte, but zakk won't touch the stuff. So it's been lukewarm tea, gatoraide, and apple juice.

If it's pure juice that might be going straight through him? When mine have the bug, I give them water or very diluted squash, milk in tea can curdle in the stomach too.

I always give my two flat coke, they don't want to drink any of the prescribed stuff as it tastes awful but they will drink flat coke or lemonade.
Hope he's better soon Sheryl.

Maintaining an adequate hydration level helps assure peak performance, and science shows that no other sports drink formula is absorbed faster than Gatorade.¹ Unlike other flavored hydration options, the osmolality and 6% carbohydrate solution in Gatorade ensure that it can be absorbed quickly and easily by the body,¹ which prevents the bloating and discomfort that can be caused by other flavored beverages. In addition, the flavor of Gatorade is formulated and athletically tested to taste best when an athlete is dehydrated. Dehydration can cause athletes to stop drinking before they’ve consumed an adequate amount of fluid to replace what has been lost.

I didn't read through the whole thread to answer....wanted to know if you ever heard of a medicine called Emetrol...it's the BEST!!!
I have a VERY sensitive stomach...and so does one of my boys...and I keep it on hand at all times....
YOu usually can buy it at Wal-Mart. I know you are taking him to the doctors and sounds like he's beyond otc medicine, but just in case you never heard of the stuff...I highly recommend it! and please give him a big hug from a Cyber chick that loves kids and has tears wellin' up for his pain...:-4

Well Zakk has strep throat. Doctor is not sure why that is causing his vomiting, but strep can cause stomach pains. So he's on pepcid and amoxicillion. So hopefully within couple of days he'll be back to his ornery self.

Thanks Peg, I just like the looks of that:wah: :wah:
Seriously Sheryl, hope he feels better soon, glad they found out what the culprit was. Poor fella, my middle son had strepp last year and he was miserable, whenever he gets the slightest sore throat he says "I might have strepp", poor thing...

The thing is he hasn't complained about his throat or anything hurting besides his stomach. My son has a really high tolerance for pain. Last May, he was diagnosed with mono and the only reason we caught that was because his lymphnodes in his neck swelled to the size of golf balls. Other than that he was normal acting.
