Are you happy?

Post by Suresh Gupta »

Nice topic.

I am really happy with my life.

Yes. I think about it first and then about others' life. I try to be nice to them and feel happy when they have a happy life. I pray to God to give happy life to one and all.

There may be occasions when I am not happy but I take those situations in a positive manner and work to derive maximum benefit out of such situations. In other words I try to convert unhappy momemnts in to happy moments. God has been very kind to me in this respect.

No, I am not one of those people who act happy all the time but when they are alone and the lights are out they think life stinks. Life is a struggle no doubt but it never stinks.

I believe love and compassion for others make people happy. Money, family, Job help in making people more happy.

Yes, Canann...interesting question.

I am happy now...very happy. I think spring, summer, and fall make me happy. Winter was making me a little crazy. Around Jan. I was suffering from severe blahs! I thought I was turning into the biege woman (personal reference of a very boring woman I once knew). It felt like everything in my life was the color beige...difficult to describe. It was like I had a case of the Mondays...all week long. At least I think it was winter that was doing it to me.

I think money helps...sweating bills is no way to live. For the first time in my adult life I don't have to be so careful with my money. (Although I should...just to have more.) I am not rolling in money...but I don't have to sweat it like I did when I was in college...that makes me happy. Everyone in my family is well...or, at least, pretty well...and that makes me happy. Health is a major key to happiness...family health included!

My daughter makes me happy.

I think that I am happy when I have a vision of where I am going and what I want to do. On occasion, I lose the vision (or it is stolen from me) and I am not as happy until I come up with a new one. I guess that makes my general happiness goal dependent.

Yes I am really happy with my life (finally)

Some things make me unhappy at times, and it will take time to change that (mostly finances)

No can't say even in my darkest moments did I think life in general stunk, just some situations.

What makes people happy, guess first and foremost they have to love them selves, then love those immediately around them, and work out from there.

Generally speaking, I am a happy person. There are things that could make life easier, but not necessarily happier. I am happy with the man I have chosen to spend my life with, I am finally employed again, my son is a wonderful young man, my parents are becoming less annoying the older I get, and I have what I need to be comfortable. Anything else is just gravy.

Positive attitude makes all the difference in the world and I believe that people who aren't happy, have the power to make themselves happy but just don't have the guts to do so.

My wife's medical problems have bankrupted me. I get paid the salary of a McDonald's manager. My RA makes me feel like I have battery acid running through my veins on good days...bad days, I don't get to walk. I have to deal with emotional children all day, and upset parents all night.

And I'm undeniably, ecstatically, amazingly, astoundingly, unbelieveably HAAAAAPPPY! :D

Fulfillment in life. I've led the life of adventure, I was a bachelor for 34 years. I've learned thousands of things,(three college degrees) been hundreds of places,(All of the US, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, Great Britain, France, Greece, New Guinea, Alaska, all of the nation Parks in the West, new York, Chicago, L.A.) seen sights that other men can only dream about,(the Earth from near space!) been places no other men have ever been.(Lost lake in the Bob Marshall Wilderness) I've had a wealth of experiences, 157 jobs, 3 careers, and a good dozen hobbies.

Now I have a family, a wife, a son, and two beautiful grandchildren. I can sit with my family on my deck which I've built, after a long day of making people's futures better, and relax while I watch the sun set over the mesas.

Life just doesn't get much better than this.

Jives, wish you were my principal. I have one close to retirement...doesn't like children...she really doesn't...thinks kids with disabilities are difficult...thinks special ed teachers have it easier...because they have small classes. She had to give directions to a grandma the other day (to get to a classroom) and said..."I just hate old people"...as she walked away. Just a mean old nasty woman!!

Others Gardners have already said it, happiness is a state of mind. You can make your own happiness if you choose to do so! By focusing on and looking for the "good" things in one's life, instead of always looking for the "bad"! :)

I believe that happiness is a state of mind. Your conditions can be the worst, and you can still be happy;you always have the choice to be happy. It all depends on how you view things. :-6

i think about most things first.

absoultely...but only time and maybe some courage can fix that.

canaan wrote: Are you one of those people who acts happy all the time but when you are alone and the lights are out you think life stinks?

well i don't act happy all the time, why should i, like everyone i have my moments but they don't last forever and sooner or later i find myself in a dark room by myself trying to go to sleep.

hmmm tough one.

i think it's a reaction to hormones being introduced into your blood stream to give a type of high which our sensory system inturprets as happiness.

People always ask me "how can you be so happy all the time?" The comment surprises me because it is not something I think about. I just am. Life is not always good, bad things happen, there is sorrow and grief, but through it all, I have a sense of peace in my life -- a state of mind as so many before me have posted.

Chase it and you can't catch it. Sit quietly and patiently and it finds YOU.

Yup. It's all in yer head.

I'm in a good mood every single day. It's a decision. I've found that just as one's mood influences one's behavior (frowning & moving slowly when in a bad mood), one's behavior influences one's mood. Pick up the pace, say "screw the mood, I'm smiling anyway." You'll find your spirits will quickly improve. Then everybody will ask you "why are you in a good mood all the time?"

Seriously, I wouldn't describe myself as happy... I think that's a state that would be impossible to sustain for any length of time. Happiness is best served sparingly, so you can appreciate it. However, I count myself as a contented person that appreciates how lucky she is for all she has. And don't you hate people that talk about themselves in the third person?:rolleyes:I get special joy from bugging people like you first thing in the morning. :yh_hugs

I find it hard to 'make myself' happy if I'm in a 'blue' state of mind, but certain things have the ability to switch my mood very quickly....when one of my kids contacts me, when I see or hear from my grandchildren or my brother...just a text message or an e-mail can do the trick. At the moment there is 'stuff' in my life and in the new year I need to make some life changing decisions and hopefully I will be back to my normal state of being HAPPY.

This time of year affects me too because I can't spend my leisure time in the garden.....maybe I need to move to 'southern climes'...now there's a lifechanging thought !

I can only agree with you.
