So everyone is being really nice today because its Valentines Day!:-4 But how many of you out there just hate this holiday? I know I do! And to make matter worse, the flowers that my husband got me aren't coming today because of the nasty weather up north!!! Could this day suck more???:yh_frustr

I don't mind it, I think it's a bit pointless though. People loved up shouldn't just wait until today to do something special. My dad said that earlier to me. He and my mum bought each other cards but they won't flowers as it's more special when there isn't a reason.

I'm with you. I dont need Hallmark Cards to tell me when I need to be nice or tell my wife I love her. Luckily I have de-programmed her and she doesnt care much anymore for it either.

What holiday!?! Work as normal for us Brits.

Trouble is, if I buy my wife flowers on the spur of the moment she want to know what I've been up to :-)

I always could really care less about Valentines as an adult, except for doing stuff with the kids when they were little. I worked with a single friend that HATED & despised the fact that she was single on Valentines day and was miserable, which made everyone around her non-so-happy!!

I got flowers from b/f today, he delivered them himself to my office.... the Roads are kinda icey in some parts. But I didn't come to work until 1pm, so it's been a good day.

We are going out to dinner tonight...:-4 (So, it's okay this year!!:D )

I find being single New Year way more upsetting, especially as it turns midnight and I hug friends and have nobodies tongue to nibble.

I don't mind one way or the other, its as important or unimportant as you wanna make it, personally its not my thing, but if the person I was seeing liked it all, I wouldn't get all annoyed about it. In general though it seems a bit of a makey-uppy card selling exercise, and nowadays of course its a lot more than that, I can tell you I used to go out with a woman Chef, trained in France, and she would never go out on Valentines under any circumstances (when she wasn't working), its not a good night to eat out at all, the food is not good, as the restaurants don't have to try, as its the one night of the year when all the people who never go to restaurants go out for steak (him) and chicken (her), so you are better off keeping your money and going for that romantic meal about 3 days later when they are desperate for customers.

I love valentines day as it's a day to show my friends and family how much I love them. A special day. I love the cheesiness, the frilly pink and red hearts. Hate the commercialism but you have that with any holiday.

I don't like it. Even when I was married. I usually go out and buy myself something nice for this day. Last year I bought a cute pair of cute red undies with a little turtle on the front. But this year I am going to be at a Valentine's Day party at 7 p.m.. And I updated my website with my Valentine's Day page.

The thing with special days is that is sort of implies that you be nice to that person for that one day and ignore them for the other 364.

I try and make it valentines day every day for delilah. I might not succeed but I try haha.

But I can understand how upset some single people or recently broken up people would be on valentines day. It is the same as lonely people on christmas or their birthdays. Been there done that. It is like you are watching the world celebrate while you are on your own.

The only thing I can say is that days may come and days may go, but only you have the control and destiny of your own life. Refuse to give in to external negativities and say to yourself "regardless of what other people celebrate today, it won't stop me being happy and having a good life".

Just think of it as a jewish person would view christmas day. He doesn't celebrate that day but will celebrate other days. Just as you will. The 14th might not be your day but tomorrow will be, which will make the celebration all the more sweeter.

Aww thanks. :) I was with my sons dad for 7 years and Ryan was planned. He had a breakdown and buggered off when Ryan was 3 months old so single again with two kids but two different dads. I'm so proud, lol.

Ryan just made me cry, I thought he was in my bedroom watching a video but he made me a card and an envelope. He drives me mad sometimes but times like that make it sooooooo worth it all.
