Cell Phones/Do Not Call List

Post by devist8me »

For those of you who have cell phones and do not want tons of calls a day. This is also the number you call should you get a telemarketer call on your cell.

JUST A QUICK REMINDER...... In a few weeks, cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls. You will be charged for these calls. Call this number 888-382-1222 from your cell phone. It is the national DO NOT CALL list. It only takes a minute of your time. It blocks your number for 5 years. Please pass this on to everyone you know who doesn't want to be hassled.

you are joking aren't you? How come you pay when someone calls you? Must be an american thing in which case why are you putting up with it? Certainly wouldn't get away with that here..

Thats how most plans work. Your charged for minutes, incoming or outgoing, on your phone. It does suck!

Must be a US thing, the only time I pay for incoming calls is if somebody calls me from abroad on my mobile-I pay the UK portion. There is no way i would accept a tariff like that what a rip off.

Do you seriously mean that not only do you get unsolicited marketing calls on your mobile but you have to pay for them? I find that really hard to believe that us consumers accept that kind of situation.

I hear ya and agree! I have caller ID on my phone and if the no call lists don't work and I keep getting hounded, I just won't answer my phone unless its someone I know. I don't think its right they can do it, but there's nothing to be done about it.

Are there no mobile phone providers available in the US that do not require the phone owner to pay for incoming calls? Any telephone service that made you pay the cost for people calling you would have no subscribers in this country in no time flat. Apart from that we have a regulator that would stop such a practice. You used to get charged more for phoning phones on other networks, they regulator stopped the practice.

It's a rip off, I am having real trouble believing americans put up with it. Why don't you just refuse to pay? I can't see any court forcing you to pay for a call you did not ask for.

gmc, we pay for it only if our minute plan charges for incoming calls. Most plans don't charge for the first minute for incoming, the rest is up to the plan holder.

So why have a plan where you pay for incoming calls?
