i have had this wrong with me always words just don't register ,its like a colour blindness ,sometimes i get so annoyed i cant even get the words close enough for the spell checker to find, if some one could not talk properly and some one nit picked there would be outrage ,or if someone could not walk properly or if they were handicapped and rightly so , its a joke to me for someone to take the Micky out of me but it really upsets me when i see it done to other people ,if some one was ugly and i started saying how ugly they were ,how many of you would think a hole ,so why should i let someone get away with nit picking every spelling mistake i or other people make ,its not big not funny and not clever

It's such a shame that some people have their head so far up their arses they dont have any sense of shame.
I think it's just a way of them feeling superior.
Shame on them.

Pinky, I wonder if that email really was "accidentally" forwarded?
It's not the spelling, it's how you get your point across that's important. I've seen some mistakes on here but you wouldn't know the dyslexic ones from the typo ones I or anyone else makes.I just assume it's a typo and move on.
I have a very eloquent, and intelligent friend who never grasped the concept of phonics. She has a college degree yet sometimes her spelling is nuts. Yet she is so well spoken and gets her points across so well. I would never rag on someone's spelling any more than I would expect to be ragged on for my math inabilities. Do you know I could not grasp making change until I was in my 20s? I taught myself how because I was so ashamed at people's comments. I still have some trouble though. Glad you brought this up because the constant spelling critique was getting on my nerves too. :-5

My brother suffers from Dyslexia and has been hard for him for many years. I feel really bad when I see him spelling when we play board games. He's a good sport about it though.
I am tired of the spelling police to be honest if I may be so bold.
We all make mistakes, NO one is perfect, It's not all about you....get over it!
(maybe I should say that in the "there I said it thread-huh?--sorry Pinky).

Pinky, I'm inclined to agree that this perhaps was not an 'accidental' receipt of an email.
They say that eavesdroppers never hear good of themselves and all that, but that takes the bleeding biscuit.
I would say that your friend should NOT allow these ppl to get away with what they have said and done. Regardless of their positions and them potentially being higher up the tree than he is... they should not be allowed to get away with it. It would be a form of racism or sexism... or learn-ed-ism or something and they should be reported to a higher form of authority.
Someone very close to me has been Dyslexic all their lives but has never allowed this to prevent them from reaching their goals in life and I'm sure you're friend is the same. Who do they think they are to treat him in this fashion... well I'll tell you what they are, only the forum rules say I'm not allowed to say those words!!!
Hmm... bit harsh and sharp what I have said but it annoys me when ppl think they are better just because they can spell and do things a little better than someone else. It doesnt make them god!!

thanks for your good comments guys, to be honest for me i can have a laugh about it ,but i know of a few people on f g that it really bothers ,i think it does wear thin after a while though its like being overwieght it does not bother me that much ,but if some one was rude enough to keep calling me fattie every time thet saw me ,eventually i'd think bollocks to this and start having a go back , i dont want to be nasty to anyone but some people do dont they , why join a forum just to be nasty to people beats me ?? oh and if any one does want to argue online ,try sherdog.com the war room its not nice

I agree with everyone so far!!
My step-daughter has dyslexia, we think her late mother did (not diagnosed) and her grandmother has it too (not diagnosed until she was in her 60's). Having watched her struggle with reading, writing, maths and even her speech at times (not a wide vocabulary) it really, really annoys me when people choose to humiliate those who struggle.
Show some bloody compassion! Dyslexics aren't thick, their brains are wired differently that's all and often they excel in other areas, some of our best actors, comedians, sportsmen etc are dyslexic.
Feel free to pick apart my spelling and grammar, I don't struggle and am quite willing and able to defend myself - in fact the angrier I get the more eloquent I become!! (weird I know!)

Two of the last three Production Managers we've had here have been dyslexic and it hasn't stopped them doing a good job.

I'd like to see the comments about people's spelling stop, whether someone has dyslexia or not, nobody is perfect!

Basically, he got forwarded an email by accident that was about him, or more specifically, his writing.
This guy started in the company as a draughtsman, then progressed to a section leader's role where he has to deal with clients. He has struggled with dyslexia all his life and spellchecks everything, but occasionally misses the odd typo.
Anyway, he opened the email only to discover that two of the head honchos had been running him down for it!
You'd think in this day and age people would be a little more aware, and maybe a bit more sensitive! It's not for lack of information about it.
I guess some people will pick on anything they can for some sort of bizarre ego trip, a way of covering up their own shortcomings. It's a pity there are still so many ignorant people out there.
Dyslexia is recognised as a disability and as such it is ILLEGAL to victimise someone because they have difficulties with spelling etc. Your friend has a case with a tribunal if he wanted to go down that road.
Your friend probably know it already, but some famous people are / were dyslexic....Richard Branson, Erin Brokovich, Rob Lowe, Jackie Stewart, Henry Winkler to name but a few.
As for picking up people for dodgy spelling on Forums.....totally out of order. Posting here is not a test of spelling ability, it's an exercise in communication and having fun.
