New MRI ordered

Post by Ciao, Bella! »

Well, I got a pain and anti-inflammatory shot today, for the pain I was in over the weekend, and am still in.

A new MRI has been ordered, but it also looks as though I have arthritis in my lower back. (I was wondering why I couldn't stand or walk for more than 30/45 minutes at a time.) Combine that with the four bulging discs, and I'm a mess.

So, we'll see, after the MRI. I hope something can be done.

Thanx, Guppy. The Toradol injection helped tremendously, so I got a good night's sleep.

We'll just have to wait and see what comes along. Nothing more to do, for now!:-6

I hope they can do something for you! I have had two cervical fusions done and still feel bad. I refuse to let my surgeon touch my lower back. I had two nero surgeons tell me if I can deal with it leave it alone. Once they operate on the lower back, you are never going to be the same. My nero surgeons were from yale new haven and saint francis. I really trust them. Good luck on the pain thing. They still have me on heavy meds.

Surgery actually scares me, but I'm so tired of the pain, it's an option.

I've a friend who was operated on last year. Two discs in her lower back were completely removed, and she is suffering for it! I don't want to go through life like that.

I had back surgery 6 years ago, it was a god send at the time as i had not been able to walk for 6 months, but I have so many problems now due to scar tissue, I do wonder if it was the right thing.

I hope I do not have to have lower back done. I do not know, went to gym to do my therapy and lower back kicked in. So now both the neck and lower back hurt. I will let you know, nothing takes pain away in the lower back, I am afraid to have xrays done on that. How is your back suzy?

I know with my friend's scar, she's been told to stretch the skin around it after a hot shower, so the scar tissue won't adhere too much.

She doesn't think it's helping much.

Thanks for asking, it's not that great at the moment, I have started a job and am finding sitting pretty unbearable. They are fitting a special chair for me within the next two weeks so hopefully things will improve. :-6

However if it does not prove to help then I may be no longer employed :-5

I also know someone like that. She lost everything because of sciatic nerve damage after operation. She is still in pain and it gets worst everyday, the operation was 7 years ago. They say there is nothing they can do for her, because the surgeon messed her up.

My friend is a former EMT, and hurt her back in a accident while responding to a call. She had PT, learned to cope, and was doing well.

Last year, she went to her favorite Italian eatery. Dimly lit, candles on the tables, you know. She'd been there many times, and had a favorite booth. As she went to sit down, she didn't notice the seat of the booth was missing, and fell into the frame of it.

She not only damaged her back again, but actually tore her rotator cuff in one shoulder. The restaurant had removed the seat portion the day before, and didn't bother to rope it off. One of their own waitresses fell into it the night before, and they still did nothing.

Her life has changed so much now. She can barely do anything, and most nights, ends up sleeping in a recliner. She's involved in a law suit with them now, which should be cut and dried, but isn't, due to her previous back problems.

No amount of money can take away the pain. I am going after the person that did this to me, I do not what him to do it to anyone else. I found out after the surgeries I had, he has 5 pending law suits against him. I am his youngest patient, he thinks I am not smart, I am just buying time. There is a 2 year statue of limitations on surgery here. I don't want him practicing anymore. I often wonder why my disc herniated, I was in no car accident. They can not even figure that out. I hope your friend gets better, and so do you. TT

They said it had to be something truamatic. It was really bad. They told me if I did not have surgery done within a two week time frame I would not be here right now. That's why, when I brought my mri into the surgeon, I was operated on the next week, really fast. So, I am grateful I am here, but I no longer want this pain, it is worse that before the surgery. It is also causing a domino effect down my back, the discs keep popping out.

I orginally done mine picking up a bag from the floor, I had to wait 16 weeks for my MRI, scan was done at 13.30, I was in hosp by 17.30 that day, they performed the discectomy the next morning :-5

There should be a law against them passing this on!:wah:

All you can do is keep smiling and think possitive. Once you stop doing that, it's all over.

My friend just wants them to cover her medical costs, even though she can no longer work, (she did part time work after leaving EMT), and she had to give up dental assistant school. I tell her to go for more than med expenses, as she no longer has a lively hood, or even a prospect of one.

You are right there. It always takes so long with lawyers and things like that. Just be there for her as she needs you. It is hard to do it by yourself.

Thank you, Delilah. I find it's worse in the AM. By the PM, it's worked it's way out, for the most part.

Is your experience similar, or do you have pain all day? (I pray not!)

Pain all day in the neck area. In the lower back it usually works it's way out. I think the lower back is worse. :-5
