My son bid and won this while he was meant to be playing games on my PC. WTF do I do now? I emailed the people, if they understand me that is as they are from Hong Kong. I explained what happened as I obviously don't want it. I'd better not get bad feedback now because of him.
Anyone know anything else I can maybe do via eBay just in case they seller still expects me to pay for the item?

You have bought it. Pay up. "Explain" to your son, or extract the money from
him, if it's not too cruel to do so. Make sure that he does not have access to
your account in future. You have been extremely slack.

explaining to the seller the situation is really all you can do!
But at the end of the day....hasn't the seller paid out for the listing??? so in all fairness its probably best that you pay up and not give your son pocket money for a few months!
Ebay has quite a large forum..that is moderated....it might be best to ask there!

Charming! Just what I need right now. Things happen, it was a mistake. He has his own account on the PC where he can only access kids sites, I'd just let him on mine as he wanted to look at the Argos site. I won't be doing that again.
I have banned him from the PC for a week and from my account indefinately. Can't take the money from him as he doesn't have it but then neither do I, otherwise I would do to teach him a lesson.

Thanks, I will ask in their forum.
I can offer to pay for them to relist, it doesn't cost a lot. I can't pay for the item though.

Ha ha yeah how wonderful it is.
My account is passworded, it was just a one off letting him on mine, big mistake eh. I just have to hope they're understanding as I can't pay for it to try to sell it on. He thought it would be cute for the baby. Erm  :wah:

He didn't get the password, it was logged in from earlier today when I paid for something I HAD bid on. Stays logged on for 24 hours.

I had a neighbor kid years ago, pretend he was me and bid on ALL kinds of things on ebay. I had no clue, until of course people started calling me left and right wanting payment.
I'm hoping that they will be understanding for you, usually people will understand and appreciate your honesty.

I am sure they will understand, as Jim said earlier Sam messed up big time, but I wrote to the seller and she let me buy the game real cheap, I sent her a funny email and she said it was worth letting us off the money, as the email had given her such a laugh!
Your not the first and most certainly won't be the last parent that this has happened to.
Write to ebay and ask their advise

Thanks hun, I thought Jim was joking sorry. Never know whether or not he is. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't someone from Hong Kong. Do they have a sense of humour?

Some of them were very upset. Because these were very costly items that I couldn't think of affording!.....
I would be concerned about them being in Hong Kong, but they are human and sure it will be okay...best of luck to you!:)

Sorry - but it's true. £20 is a cheap lesson, really. What if it had been more,
that you could not get out of paying for (ebay is not a real auction bound by
*real* law)? Quite apart from the responsibility angle.

The item is £4.5, IIRC. Paypal them £4.5.

Well in my situation, it doesn't matter if it's £20 or £200, I can't afford to pay it either way. I just have to hope they're nice about it.

So he was logged in with your account/privileges? Perhaps "administrator"?
This apart from e-bay's "keep me logged in for the next 24 hours". Set him
up with a non-administrator account (and make sure you change any default
passwords!). I am not trying to be nasty, but it's human nature to try one's
limits. If those limits are checked in the first place, then they can't be exceeded
(hopefully!). N.B. if you have admin. privileges, the 'puter is your oyster ('till
the O/S (and all data) is completely re-installed. Again, I am not trying to
be nasty, or cast aspersions on your son - but boys will be boys!

Wow, I think you should be lucky you didn't have to pay for something in the hundreds,..or even thousands.
Aren't there ways you can have your kids use a different log in to your computer that has a set limit on sites they're allowed to access? That's what I would have my kids do.

Look at the policy for retracting bids on ebay. Depending on the circumstances, it can be done. As you said, just explain the situation to the seller. The worst that can happen is negative feedback and you can always leave a response explaining the situation on your feedback.
