Could you ever defend someone that you knew was guilty of a crime?. Would you want to get the best deal for someone who had committed a heinous act ?. When I see lawyers arguing to defend people that have murdered kids for example it makes me wonder if they have a conscience. What about when someone as guilty as sin is let off on a technicality? I couldn't do that. It's a strange profession isn't it?

I agree with you, I personnally do not think I could do that. That is why I do not practice what I went to college for.

It's something I know I could not do and be able to live with myself. I too have often wondered how they do it.

As most of you know, hubby is a lawyer -- he deals with civil cases as opposed to criminal ones. We have had heart-to-heart conversations about this subject.
My husband could never do it -- he has such a conscience. Which makes me proud. He does believe in the part of the system that says *everyone* deserves a defense, but morally he could never do it. He and I don't know how these people can look at themselves in the mirror.

Could you not refuse to accept the case?

It would be something to ask one , I have a few patients that are lawyers, maybe I will ask them, depending on their mood, I am sure it's a sensative subject for some.
