I was talking on fg yesterday about if ever wrote a book I would call it forgotten child after my gran ,well such the workings of my mind ,I went to sleep and had wonderful dreams about being hugged by my gran when i was a young boy ,I had a terrible childhood where i was not wanted by my mother or father ,and this day and age they would have gone to prison for the way they treated me ,but my gran rescued me and she used to have tears coming down her face she used to sing this song as she used to hug and kiss me , as a child this was the only love I ever knew ,I woke up this morning the song was still in my head I went to you tube and was amazed to find it there ,thanks gran there is no love like a grandmothers love ,does any one else have a song that takes them back to happier times in their childhood ,
for grandmothers every where
for grandmothers every where

AWWW, thanks for sharing Jimbo, and thanks for my morning cry....I could only listen to part of the song, need to go get ready for work...I think I've heard it a long time ago...
I don't have any songs from my Grandmother, but I have a wonderful memory as a child with my mom and I dancing to Barry Manilow's song "I can't smile without you"...till this day I can see us dancing in our living room holding hands/dancing and singing it together.:-4

I'm not familiar with that song.
But, it's a testament to your gran's love, and proof that she is still watching over you, that you dreamed so vividly about her.

I could not remember a song from my childhood, i have a job to remember my childhood. Like you Jimbo my dad would be in prison for what he did if he did it in todays world. I had no gran or grandad about, or mum.
I never look back, only forwards.
thanks for your kind words buddy , like you i tend to just look forward but i have a past and a story to tell , maybe some one somewhere could take maybe just a crumb of comfort in my tale , i feel buddy you too have a story to tell and if you ever want to tell it i for one would love to hear it , its not easy to bare your soul my friend, a few years ago ,I got talking to a nice 30 year old woman ,who seemed to understand the way i was feeling yet i never knew how to open up i just kept it bottled up inside she told me her story , she had gone abroad doing missionary work looking after children ,to cut a long story short ,the boat she was on with two other sisters and all the children on was attacked by some guys like latter day pirates both the sisters and all the children were murdered and she herself was left for dead after being raped ,can you imagine how hard that was for her too tell her story ,but after hearing it and knowing another human felt the same pain i did ,i vowed to tell my story to whoever wanted too or needed to hear it ,people in pain dont need to suffer alone not that you are my friend but any one suffering anywhere jimbo is here :-6 :-6 :-4

Jimbo, why not write a book, or an article, describing your grandmother's love for you? The Chicken Soup for the Soul series pays decent $$ for stories.
This suggestion is for anyone who has a story to tell, BTW.

Your grandmother's love never ends. It simply gets passed on, to your family, friends, etc. That's your happy ending, knowing that love triumphed, and allowed you to go on.

I think you should write the book, jimbo.
Even if you don't know whether you'd finish it and regardless of whether or not you think it would ever get published. These types of stories benefit a lot of people, especially the person who writes it.

As the eldest of 10 children I was held responsible for the others and if one of them was naughty and mam said she would tell dad when he got home from work I knew what was coming to me , he would have gone to prison by today's standards , I used to then dish it out to the others , but do you know something , we all loved them and still miss them

IF YOU CAN'T SAY GOOD ABOUT SOME ONE , KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT

Jimbo, your grans smiling right now, your a wonderful grandson, the tribute that you just paid to her, and it is wonderful that you would consider writting about her, I think you should act on that. I am deeply saddened to hear how you were treated, truly, am, I was sat on my bed in the second grade by my adoptive mother(I was placed in an orphanage) and then told I didnt want you your father did, thats why you are here! She was drunk, guess back then they didnt screen adoptive parents, they divorced. Big Suprise!!!!!
