Very odd that you bring this up, I was joking last night in chat room...about this very subject...

I think that people in general do judge by association. I honestly try my best not to, like people for who they are.

I personally like people that have a sense of humor, and don't look at as an indication of their intellegence. I appreciate the funny side of Life, it makes the world go 'round!:-6 :D :-4

Oh hell, I'm sure half the board thinks I'm some sort of redneck idiot. :D

Oh well...who cares anyway huh! As long as I'm having fun. That's all that matters right?

Someone said this to me once, judge people like you would like to be judged.

I do at times, but try to get to know a person before judging them. I like to relate the story of a time my car broke down as I was pulling into an intersection. Had many people....honking horns..and some older grey haired grandmotherly type lady flipped me off. Finally a car stopped to helped me. Out of the car poured for kids..in thier early 20's. Red and purple hair, percings, the like. The three guys pushed my car off to the side, the girl let me use her cell to call the auto club. AND they hung around till help came...close to a half hour!! But it was the little lold grandma who registered poorly with me. So there. You canot always judge.

Sheryl,

You are a redneck idiot, and that's why I love you:-4

I am only kidding...I think you have a great sense of humor, and would never categorize you, don't think you'd fit in one..you are one of a kind!:-4

I agree with the separating the poster from the post idea. I have always been a "social butterfly" and didn't like to be in a "category", in high school I was friends with everyone...as long as they didn't talk about my large buttocks.:wah:

I pay more mind to what they have to say overall rather than what category they post in or who they spend their time with. Myself, I'd hate to have people think I'm a smartass 100% of the time or that all I know how to talk about is dogs; they'd be missing out as would I. PMs help too. I much prefer it when people try to know me on the side. I try not to pigeonhole people whether on here or in outside life because I hate it when people are shortsighted and do it to me. :)

I would say a yes to that . If you watch carefully enough you can see the character traits in people . You've got the people who always turn up with a nasty comment , the me me me type . The guys who want an easy life . If you think about it we judge everything from the colour of someones skin to the way they walk so why should here be any different - if you wear dowdy clothes and hide you figure no ones ever gonna know the svelte like stunner hiding underneath .

You do seem to come across as a fun type person in my opinion before any thing else but that's just my opinion - i don't see that as a bad thing . I don't really go into the religion or politics threads much as it doesn't really interest me or the games come to think of it and i just ignore the people who splatter the boards with total bollox because it is ...really, bollox .;)

I like to laugh and joke ,I like to offer my support to anyone having a hard time, I really don't get too involved with anything else , I find if people grumble and moan all the time they tend to mix with other people that do the same , just as I like to mix really with people that like to think my bottle may be half empty no worries I'll just get another one no big deal :D Same as I feel I have a lot in common with the bereaved people on here I really understand what they are going through ,been there done that and doing it again , if your funny you do funny posts ,if your clever you do clever interesting posts , if your not any of the above you pick fault with peoples spelling and moan about every one :wah: :wah:

I often wonder what people think of me here, I tend to stick mainly to the fun stuff, the lighthearted stuff with occasional forays into the more serious threads. I avoid politics, religion etc because I am not the best informed poster here but I have my opinions.

I think I give the impression of being a bit lightweight but that's ok because I can have the deeper, more serious stuff in RL.

That's due in part to the assumption I've already made about said person. As far as a poster's subject diversity, I don't pay any attention to that. I look at "today's posts" or look at previous posts and interact accordingly. I don't expect anyone to be funny or serious all the time as I'm not always in either category. But, I do know where to expect b.s. and spite, so I veer away best I can so as not to get caught up in it.

I think it is really hard to judge someone based on their internet behavior. I know personally, you only see one side of me online. People use the internet for different reasons, and even forums for different reasons. Some people show their deepside online simply because they have the time to.

I spend only ten to twenty minutes using the internet for personal use a day simply because I do not have more time than that. I come to forum garden for a little bit of an escape, I play simple word games, and say hello to people and say something random every now and then. But I am actually a semi-deep, serious, emotional person but you would never know that by what I post.

So with that said, I make no assumptions about anyone online :)

Sometimes it works the other way about.

If I see someone I like and trust associating with someone I've formed a bad opinion of then I'll wonder if I've made a bad call.

No, not in the slightest - I'd re-evaluate the person I dislike.

If I heard someone talking poorly of someone else then saw them hanging around the person they just complained about then I would form a few questions about them. I understand that our friends can annoy us at times and we need to vent but I'd be watching a bit more to see if they were just venting or if they were not being honest.

I think that sometimes people can share an experience that creates a bond and though they might not normally get along as well, they will always have that connection. Just because someone talks to another doesn't mean anything beyond them having something in common that is specific to them.

I think that we have different types of friends too. People we'd go to a pub with. People we'd share our deepest selves with. People we like working with even though they'd drive us nuts in a casual setting. Everyone is mutli-faceted. Not everyone sees the whole crystal.

(especially if they are "magick crystals" :wah: )

In my jobas a security officer, I have to deal with many sorts of people who belong to groups that are streotyped in a negitive way, such as hoodies, thieves, drunks etc..

It can be difficult sometimes to deal with these people objectively, but it is a vital skill to have within my job role. I find that you get a far better response and more co-operation from these people if you treat them as individuals rather than part or the peer group.
Behaviour breeds behaviour - treat people how you would like to be treated yourself
