Count the number of unequivocable statements made by each - and the number
of evasions. Multiply these together. Count also the number of answers to a
question different to that asked and multiply by the count of half-truths. Divide
the first by the second. For any politician, this may result in a constant.

the debates tomorrow
i rated it a tie. bush and kerry are definitely not peas in a pod. different backgrounds (though both born with silver spoons in their mouths), different speaking styles, different mannerisms, and very different opinions.
some are rating the debate as going to kerry, and i think that's simply because he had an opportunity to speak clearly for a bit. bush showed - i'm sure to the consternation of many - that he is not stupid as is oft repeated. he has a clear grasp of the facts, and while ultimately not as smooth in speaking style as kerry, he's no less able to articulate his ideas.
there was a lot of substance to the debate, which was great to see and hear. there were no real fireworks, so many will consider it a yawner. but either way, i didn't see either candidate as clearly, manifestly the one who shone brighter.
a debate shouldn't be about who happens to sweat on their upper lip, or who mispronounces a word, or says saddam hussein when they meant bin laden. those are superficialities that tend to be latched onto by the popular press, but have diddley-what-all to do with the substance of the debates.
it was a tie.
