My FG Fails to Update

Post by telaquapacky »

I have a weird experience when I open FG.

First of all, I can't log on, because I am already logged on. I try to log out, and return to find I am logged on anyway.

Secondly, the home page always looks the same- it's like that Bill Murray movie, "Groundhog Day." I see the same pictures Capt. Buzzard posted in the gallery months ago, and new posts may show up but may not.

And it's hard to find new posts to threads I'm following.

Now, having said that, I have to make a confession, and this might be the cause of the problem. I have frequently left FG without logging out! (also, I use three of four computers with FG)

Is there a way to fix this? I promise I'll never do it again! :-1

it's the 'three or four computers with FG' and not logging out that does it. FG remembers who you are and 'where' you are by depositing a 'cookie' on your computer. when you log out, it erases that cookie. if you stay logged into FG on one machine, then log into FG from another machine, poor little FG's cookie-brain crumbles.

definitely recommend logging out of fg if you're going to log in from another puter.

nope. if you use just one computer, you can leave yourself logged in all the time, as i do.

I am in the "Check for new posts brigade" but when i log in it says there are no new posts, yet when i look their are loads!

so i find i have to log out, then log back in again & stay logged on, otherwise i miss all the new posts.

Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me thats been sad enough to have noticed it?

Besides many computers and not logging out, the "Groundhog Day" effect was due to me never deleting my old internet file content from Internet Options. I did that (Took a long time!) and now I am back to the future. Thanks. :o
