Do You Check Currency Exchange Rates?

Post by Lon »

I do. Living in New Zealand for part of each year and living on American $$$, it makes a big differrence on how far my U.S. $ goes when I access the ATM machine for cash. In the 15 years that I have been going to NZ the exchange rate is now the least favorable that it has ever been for the U.S. dollar. 72 cents U.S. buys 1 NZD. Still favorable, but not as good as when it was 56 cents U.S. to the NZD.

Americans tourists still flock to Europe but find it's pretty expensive becasue of the Euro/U.S. dollar exchange rate.

There is money to be made (and lost) investing in Foreign Currency Xchange.

I've always kept tabs on the CDN$/USA$ rate, as I live near the Ontario/New York border.

The Canadian dollar was as low as $0.60 -$0.65 US in the late '90s. It's now in the $0.85-$0.90 region, usually in the middle of that zone.

US dollars at Canadian stores generally get a 10%-12% premium.

On the Kansas side my dollar never seems to go as far as it does on the Missouri side. :)
