This is the name of a TV show with a Medium acting as a go between the Dearly Departed and the living. Do you believe in this?

Lon, my response has to be twofold. I do believe that those who have gone on may indeed try to contact us...I still dream alot about my mom, who has been dead over 26 years...and it always seems to relate to significant things that have happened in my life since she died...when I move to a new city, bought my house, and most recently got married. As if she was contacting me to give an opinion on the matter.

Do I feel the departed contact us through a third party? That I am not sure about. I mean, some of the stuff said is so general.

I am very interested in the topic, but am not sure I am fully convinced.

I would like to think that I am the sort of person who would not question something that I have no understanding of - I would not say it is impossible because I cannot prove otherwise - but I seriously question anyone who - if gifted with this power would use it on TV to make money. If you were so lucky to have this gift would you not help others with no gain.

I watched that show a lot and I'm convinced that he is one of the few who is legitimate.

I believe in "all that crap" anyway but I'm really critical of mediums when I watch them. He has carefully catered his presentation to try and prove it is real. He is pretty demanding of himself for accuracy.

Are you asking if we believe in him or in the possibility itself? I've seen his show and can go either way with him. He's more believable than some, not as much as some others. But as for the possibility of communicating with the dead, absolutely. I have done so myself so I have to believe in it. I don't think it's at all weird or improbable.

Why shouldn't he (or any medium) make money off it though? Why should he give it away for free. Everyone has a gift. Why should there be no profit? Even clergy get paid. The tarot/palm reader up town does it for money. That doesn't necessarily make her readings bogus. It's her living.

What bothers me about this and other similar shows is the messages from the DEARLY DEPARTED. No real substance, nothing of real importance other than to let the living know that all is well. When will we ever hear Uncle Harry say---"Hey---look under the water heater----that's where I put the money".

The "Amazing Randi" has pretty well shot down all of these Mediums by offering ONE MILLION DOLLARS if they will do their thing under controlled circumstances. So far, no one has taken him up on it. I have in years past, attended with others, group seance conducted with renown Mediums, and I'll tell ya, there are big bucks involved. That alone is cause for skepticism in my opinion.

I understand 'cold reading' and I think he does employ some of that but, there are some things he says that is so off the wall, it makes it believable. Unless he has moles in the audience and standing in the line while they wait to get in.

I went to a psychic once and one or two things he said came true. I laughed so hard at one thing he said, I think I hurt his feelings. He hasn't called back to tell me he's back in town so I think he's mad at me. I told him hell would freeze over before that happened. About six months later it did. I never saw the news from 'down under' so I'm assuming the heaters are still working. :wah:

I've turned my own cards and everytime it seems to really mean something in my life. But that could just be me and the way I interprete it.

I believe in the after life. But I don't believe in Sylvia Brown, is that her name? She seems to have gotten as sloppy as her nails are long. Stop sucking on your nails!:sneaky:
When choosing between two evils, I always like to take the one I've never tried before.

I do believe in some things. I went to a physic evening and took my husband who is a non believer. I was the first person this lady spoke to, and she told me things she could not have possibly known. She was describing pictures inside my house, and described and :) gave me the name of my great grandmother. (I had never met this physic before). Even my husband was astounded

Sometimes I believe, and sometimes I dont. Mostly, I do believe. Ive had visits from the dead. Well, one person actually. The thing that scares me sometimes is that religion teaches that the devil will masquarade himself as the departed. And so to dabble is like visiting a dangerous doorway to evil. Noone will probably recall this... but many years ago, when there was all kinds of controversy over the movie The Exhorsist... during critiques of the film, two points were brought to light. #1 that the mother and daughter were agnostics. #2 that the daughter had been playing with a ouiga board and calling forth the dead.

Yes but that's religion's job. It teaches you that so that you will cling to it and not question things on your own. I don't doubt for a minute that evil exists but I definitely don't think spirit visitation and mediumship are naturally a part of that. Ouija boards are a different animal. I don't know why it is but they seem to be a an easy portal for negative energies. I don't mess with them. There are other methods that are safer.
