After weeks of improved weather, I finally pulled out the summer gear. My head filled with thoughts of opening the pool up and buying myself a new bikini. When ..... the weather men decide to inform us of a 'Noreaster' starting tonight thru to Monday. WHAT THE!!

I am reminded of when I first arrived in US (being from southern UK and not used to seeing too much snow), two days after landing we were informed of a Noreaster on its way. I thought it was some sort of Holiday (and was looking forward to seeing the festivities) - until the thing arrived - Oh MY that was a shocker!! :wah: :wah:

We are in a flood watch from tonight until Monday morning! I was caught in a flash flood last summer and now I'm terrified to go out when it rains hard. I hope it isn't as bad as predicted. On top of this winter that won't go away - it's just too much. :(

Wow, I'm glad we decided to remaing here in the Sunshine state till mid May, instead of going back to New England around now, just to face a Noreaster!

Our daughter who lives in New England is crying the blues, the winter has been so miserable there. We wanted her & her family to come South for a few weeks to take a break, & get some sun. But unfortunately, she & her husband could not get any time off from work now, as their companies shut down in July for vacation. (They need to find new jobs! )

I'm terrified about the storm because all my elec. & heat are in my crawlspace where it floods....have 2 sump pumps down there. I have the bay on one side and the ocean on the othere. Maybe I'll float away:wah:

Let's stay in touch when the storm happens. It supposed to start at 7:00 here. Good luck...let's ride it out.

Kathy

We are in the process of moving to PA so thats where I am right now - its supposed to hit here at 8pm so let me know what you get at 7pm cos its heading my way after that - good idea about keeping intouch could be fun.

I don't know when it's supposed to start here, but I'll keep a lookout and let you know. I'm in South Jersey on the Delaware side so I guess it will start early here. It's almost 7 and, although it's cloudy, it doesn't look too bad yet. I have to say it does sound frightening that you are between the ocean and the bay. I hope you will be ok.

It is always best to be prepared! It is just showers here now, but I do not know how powerful it may get the further north it is. Flooding is something you must be cautious of, you take care!

So how did it go?

Did a storm hit and was it as bad as expected?

Is everyone OK?

Rain, Rain, Rain - the snow is meant to hit later tonight. Not flooded yet, although watching the water levels rising :) Hope the others are ok too.

Good to hear you're OK so far - now we just need Kathy, Sasparillo and Chonsi to report in :-)

If the rain's that bad then Kathy could be powerless :-(

Thanks for inquiring....I still have power, and I'm very bad and lazy today. Just woke up and plan to make some rashers & eggs with tomatoes....anyone want some?? You all can ride out this invisible storm with me.

Hope I won't regret my words later.

I'm so glad to hear you are ok. It is a little scary that you are located between the bay and the ocean when bad weather comes along. Although I LOVE the ocean, I have a healthy respect for its power and I think I would be a little freightened if I were in your place.

So far it doesn't seem that bad here, but I think we must have gotten a lot of rain overnight because there is water in my basement. I never get water in my basement. I think the ground is completely saturated.

You must be having the brunt of the storm, very heavy rain in Baltimor since last night. Luckily, no snow ahead for us! But the streets are flooded, it was hard driving back and forth to church.

I'm glad everything's still ok at the beach. We haven't had much wind, but a lot of rain. I think the wind is supposed to come later today, but I don't have too much faith in the weather forecasters. You make an excellent point about that last ice storm. It was so bad it took me 3 and a half hours to get home from work. I never wanted to get out of a car so bad in all my life!:-5

We have major flooding issues in the area and with wind gusts of 50mph I may lose power soon - hope everyone else is OK.

The same Noreaster is heading my way.Looks like we are in for a bad one. Yesterday we had to move most of our lobster traps into deeper water to try and keep them same. It is predicting wind gust up to110 km with90 MM of rain.It is 9.00 am here now and it has started. I hope our lobster boats escapes damage.

It has started already. This is a very large storm so I guess it is affecting a large area. It is supposed to get bad by late afternoon.

I presume you're sitting it out on dry land - so I hope the boats are well sheltered and secure.

O yes Would not want to be on the water during this storm. Our boats are tied up in a break water but we still keep an eye on them.
