Boston was huge (in North America, anyway) in the late '70s. I always thought their music was overblown, overproduced and pretentious. Of course, I was waist deep into the Ramones, Buzzcocks and Sex Pistols, the antithesis of the "arena rock" acts like Boston.

Although I disliked their music, all reports seem to indicate that Delp & Co. were decent lads. I wonder what caused his death . I'll be surprised if it turns out to be drug related.

They were REALLY big in my hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. I loved them. In honor of Mr. Delp, I again listened to their 1st CD last night; it sounds as good as ever.

By all accounts, according to the long obit in The Boston Globe, Brad Delp was a very well-respected human being -- well-loved by fellow musicians. He was going to marry his long-term girlfriend this summer.

May he rest in peace :-6

UPDATE : Heard on the news last night that his death was a suicide. He took a charcoal barbeque into the bathroom, and died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

A suicide note was found at the scene, which warned rescuers about the CO danger.

A tragic story.

yes I liked them as well.

Sad to have heard of his suicide. A real shame, just makes you wonder how bad can life get that one can't reach out for help... so very sad to loose a great talent.
