Mothers Day

Post by Philadelphia Eagle »

This coming Sunday is Mothers Day. With the traditional media ads and store displays it would be difficult to avoid knowing!

Neither of our mothers are with us now but they used to love Mothers Day.

We would always take them out for a Mothers Day lunch and declare it a flag day by flying the Stars and Stripes at our home.

So on Sunday we will continue the tradition and fly the flag in honor of their memories.

What are your plans for Mothers Day?

I will probably get a card for my mother, but thats it. This is the first year that I'm a mother! Hubby said he wasn't going to get me anything, but my 3 month daughter is haha.

Yeah Mother's Day in Britain is in March. When I saw the thread before I was panicking thinking I'd missed it!!

re. Capt. Buzzard (#6 post above). Well said! I believe it USED to be Mothering Sunday which was an opportunity for all the young girls working away from home as housemaids, etc to go back and SEE their mothers. Now the sort of c**p you can buy includes gems like "To my grandmother on mother`s day" (?oxymoron if ever there was one?!) and "to the lady who looks after me on mother`s day, from your dog / cat, etc.)! Total exploitation!

Oh dear!

Mothers Day in UK doesn't seem to be quite the happy event it is here.

Perhaps your stores, media have turned it into an excuse to raid your pocket books!

There is hype here too, of course, but perhaps in a more sophisticated way.

It certainly hasn't turned people off the way it appears to have done in UK.
