London Underground - who's taking whom for a ride?

Post by weinbeck »

The minimum fare to travel on the Underground is now £3.00, about $6.00. I seldom use the underground, but on one of the few occasions I did, I say something that made my blood boil. In one of the carriages there was a poster depicting a person standing before a judge with the warning written beneath: The maximum fine for travelling on the underground without a valid ticket is £1000.00 or six months imprisonment or both! Shock/horror. It had me on the edge of my seat - I think not! I was so mad, I fired off an e-mail challenging them to provide me with evidence of just one person who's picked up a £1000.00 (about $2000.00) for travelling on the tube without a ticket, let alone a six month prison sentance or both. Surprise, surprise - they never replied. I wonder why?:) Posters of this nature only add to the contempt the public have for those responsible.

What c**p warnings do you have to contend with when using the Metro in New York?
