Summer vacation!!

Post by BabyRider »

With the weather finally warming up and our calendar getting filled quickly with summer plans, I got to wondering: What does everyone do during the summer? Go on vacations, just take time off and putz around the house, work right through, or what?

Bullet and I may be riding to Maryland to visit his sister, or riding to Arizona to see his dad's grave. He gets two weeks off in July for the shut-down at General Motors and we will practically be living on the bike.

The club has lots of parties and gatherings and my family does a lot of get-togethers, too. We also go to Cedar Point at least once, being adrenaline junkies. I SOOOO look forward to summer and all the fun stuff there is to do. What are your plans? Who has a great vacation to look forward to?
[FONT=Arial Black]I hope you cherish this sweet way of life, and I hope you know that it comes with a price.

Bullet's trial was a farce. Can I get an AMEN?????

Well....despite the fact that I could have Summers off entirely if I wanted to, (three months of paid vacation a year, MAN, I love being a teacher!) I won't. I go crazy just being home for Spring Break. Too much time off and I begin to gain wieght and go completely stir crazy.

So..instead I volunteer to teach Summer School. It starts the second week on June, so I still get off those first two weeks, runs Monday through Thursday, so I get three day weekends, and only lasts until 1:30 every day, with another two weeks at the end of July off.

It keeps me busy and I still get to enjoy myself, plus I love the double paychecks.

I'm also planning on going to Denver in July to attend a wedding and we'll be going to Waterworld, a freakin' huge waterpark there. later in the Summer I'm traveling to either Arkansas to see my wife's father, or to Seattle to see my little sister.

So it should be a fun and productive Summer. I'm already wearing shorts here! :)

I don't have any exciting plans - just the usual work and school. That's ok, though, since I'm saving my vacation time/budget to go see my boy graduate from boot camp in Nov. Yay!!

So, just lovely long walks on the beach on weekends, possibly a Shakespeare play at the festival here, and things like that. Simple. Nice. Relaxing. And lots of pink lemonade on the porch after work. (happy sigh)

Our grandchildren are visiting in August. It'll be hot so we pland to take them to several of the super waterparks in this area. These kids are aged 12,10 and 8 and can spend all day in the water!

For their parents, we plan to take them on a tour of Historic Philadelphia and to Valley Forge to see the site of Washington's forces during the War of Independence.

In the evenings, while the children are probably either watching a movie or sleeping off the effects of a visit to a waterpark, the adults will sit out on the front porch with a cooling drink and just chat. Bliss!

BR, as you know I have already been on Summer vacation (in Florida) since February 11, 05. Now next week we will be going back to our "Northern" Connecticut villa. It should be hot there by then. We miss our Granddaughter very much who lives in CT , we get home the night before her 11th Birthday, so we will make her BD party! She has already come up with a list of things she would like us to do with her. Some of the things she has planned, is to go to her favorite restaurants, see the latest movies, Go to "Hershey Park" in PA, Minature Golf, Bowling, ride go-carts to name a few. My wife & I have a big anniversary comming up in June, I want to go to Atlantis Paridise Island. (Oh-Oh, I better finalize the reservations- it's next month) :-2

There are many "renovations" we need to do & have done at our Northern villa, so that will be very time consuming & challenging. We are going on another cruise in January, so during the Summer months we will be shopping for "cruise clothes".

In the mean time we also need to get involved with the "Lunchons", Dinners, & BBQ's our circle of firends have during the Summer months! Before we know it, when it gets "Cold" up North we'll be back here at our Florida "Southern villa"! :-6

My plans are wide open. We always take a week or so vacation in August. The past few years it has been Vegas. This year we will do something different. We just haven't pinned down exactly what it will be.

I took the whole summer off last year. Yes, teaching does have perks. This year I will be working 3 days a week to do special education testing for the district. The other 4 days a week I will be planting flowers/trees and getting some landscaping finished.

Well we just got back from Hollywood/Beverly Hills CA!! That was great--had a 2 bdrm suite on 12th floor overlooking the Hollywood Hills & famous sign! Took the 8, 5 and 2 yr old kids.....

This summer my parents are getting a big house on the beach in Orange Beach Alabama. We, along with my sister/her husband & 2 girls ages 5 & 9... will all stay together and my sister from L.A. is even joining us. We did this last summer and had a good time...even though the closeness has us girls ripping each others hair out by day 2!!!

Arnold - if you're planning a visit to NYC this summer you'll have a great time.

Super shopping with prices much lower than in UK and lots of sightseeing by day and Broadway shows by night if you are interested in theater.

If you are coming in the summer the weather will be hot and humid.

Most comfortable months are Sept/Oct.

I would recommend you buy dollars in UK before you leave - better rate.

Hope you have a great vacation.

No summer holidays away anywhere for us this year. We can't afford to pay the inflated prices during school holidays. We did manage to get to Youghall in Ireland two summers ago on a last minute cheap self catering holiday.

Since then hubby has changed his job, and due to the nature of his work (landscape gardening) he's not allowed to take more than a few days off during the summer months!

Me and the children may jump on a train and go to Wootten Bassett to visit my freind for a few days. Other than that we'll be found in the garden (weather permitting) with the sand-pit and paddling pool.

Well everyone I've spoken to has loved America and the people. I'm sure it won't disappoint! I've said on a previous thread that I'd love to travel America in a big camper van!!! :driving:
