United States Welfare vs. Europes welfare

I live in a small fishing town on the river, and I work full time, many of my neighbors seem to have given up, and are on welfare, thus, it bugs the hell out of me when I come home from a hard day, and they are packing for a cruise trip to Aruba! and my other neighbor vacations in their Florida home in the winter, these people are my age, and they laugh becuase I work!!!!!!

In England or Great Britan, how does your welfare system work and do they have people that check to see that you arent scaming the system?

I think that in general European welfare systems tend to be more comprehensive than the US one, and they are better funded, but I still don't think that people on social welfare in Britain are able to afford to go on holidays to the algarve or the costa brava unless they are also working and scamming the system.

not to get totally off the subject, but I love aruba!!

my mom used to work for welfare and she said you wouldn't believe the people that would come in and actually qualify for welfare!

Welfare in america sucks! If you can spit out more than 4 kids, hey you've got a free ride from the state. However if your sick and dying and just get a lowly social security check for income, they'll be extra generous with the food stamps. Something like $11 dollars a month. :-5

It seems as though the "system" in America, especially California is terrible as it rewards the lazy and ignorant. And it penalizes those who would rather "spit out babies" instead of work. But still, I'd rather work and make more money than sit on my ass and produce unwanted children. And I know that I make more money working than I would on welfare. And I feel better about it and myself. I think that the way the American government treats it's veterans is horrendous.

That's what I'm saying Ip. I hear about all this scamming going on and I'm not seeing how anyone can pull it off enough to be taking vacations. I know at least in AZ, welfare/AHCCCS doesn't pay enough to pay bills, buy food or do much of anything and the people cranking out kids here to get more money are fooling themselves because they are still living below poverty level. So I want to know how it's done.
