Hospital patients/information disclosure.

Post by Bill Sikes »

"I" have a relative in hospital, who is ver 18. "They" want me to know about their state of health, treatment, and everything associated with it. The hospital are extremely reluctant to divulge this information to "me", despite the fact that "my relative" wants "me" to know. How do "I" persuade the hospital to tell? "My relative" is quite happy to nominate "me" as next-of-kin, give "me" Power of Attorney, or what-have-you - but what is the best or proper means to get the information?

Edit: Ordinary P.O.A.

When my mum was in hospital she put me down as next of kin they would discuss her condition with me alone.

It did the trick, hope they get well soon Bill.

Bill

Are you listed on the paper work of next to kin?

Power of attorney? listed anywhere? Is your relative coherent ?

The Chaplin - see the Chaplin of the hosp. - they have alot of authority.

The Chaplin helped me.
