When life gets me down and I'm feeling sorry for myself, I look around me. My health may not be the best, but there are people way worse off than I am. My mom went to a nursing home yesterday, and I know some day the Alzheimer's will take away her knowing me, but I am lucky to still have her and that for now, she DOES know me. My kids may not make the best decisions, but there are kids doing far worse. My husband may not be the most thoughtful person in the world sometimes, but I never have to fear him and know he's there when I need him the most. My feet hurt so bad from the arthritis but at least I am still able to work and walk. I guess what I'm saying is you have to focus on the positives and not on the negatives. You make your own happiness; noone can do that for you.

i think that is so ture suzy,i love walking and of course i also love walking my dogs.I became superviser last year which i worked hard to get and i loved the job. Then i noticed that my right ankle was aching every time i got home.Well has the mths went on i could no longer walk my dogs and nor could i walk very far, infact at the age of 43 i was walking like an old women:-1
I gave up my posting and reduced my hours from 39 hours to only 19 on the tills which i dont like.I have found out only 2 mths agi what the problem is,i have a collasped ankle which means my ligiments and tendons are not working right.I have got insoles now which will help me a little.I know this is only small to what some people are or have been going through. My point is that i really miss wallking and taking my JJ out for walks.
All can say really if that is all i got to worry about in life well i am very lucky.

Depends on your definition, doesn't it? Maintaining a pulse, breathing in & out, existing from one day to the next .... that's pretty much a waste of time, isn't it?
But Living - big L - taking every day and living it to the max ... seeing every challenge as an adventure to be savored or obstacle to overcome ... sucking the marrow of life every day (or whatever that quote is). :-6
I can't think of much that is more of a good thing than Living.

A few years ago, I could barely walk, couldn't dress or undress myself, getting in and out of the tub was a struggle. Now I can do it all. I can't take walks, but I can at least walk around while I work. I have pain every day but it is bearable. What I'm saying is even with health problems, there is hope.

Blah, blah, blah
It's pizza. Pizza, pizza, pizza!!!
Or Chinese food.
No, pizza, it is.
But that General Tso's chicken is real good.
No, meat lovers pizza, that's the best.
Fortune cookies are good, the dogs love them and they would miss them if they were gone.
Too bad, they'll just have to make do with pizza crust.
How can I go anywhere until I straighten this out? :-5

family both old and young.
I live for my folks who are suddenly aging as I speak
I live for my daughters who have the world ahead of them
I live for my grandson who is just beginning
I live for my health blessedly good for the time being, I live for my future, the dream of retirement and happiness.
I guess I live for a lot of reasons. Again yes as said before life could always be worse, I have had my share, and it's time now for me to live.

Well.... that would make someone who was in a coma, was blind, mute, or deaf be the happiest person in the world if they had what you're talking about.
My point is it can always be worse so don't take for granted what you do have. I bet, if you just took a minute to really look at it, you have far more than what you just listed. You have the world by the balls, if only you'd stop sitting around in self-pity long enough to realize that. Same goes for every single one of us.

Live, because you only get one life...
I understand difficulties in life, we all have them. Some more than others of course... I find waking up in the morning and seeing the sunshine and major blessing. I am getting older and the body isn't what it used to be...but I'm so thankful for so much that I do have in my life. I also worry on a monthly basis on how my bills are going to get paid, due to not making enough to cover everything. I put my trust in God that it will get taken care of. :-6
I understand pity parties, we all have them, but the problem is when we have them, we don't invite people to them, then they wouldn't be pity parties, they would be "cheer me up" parties!!
Friends and family are precious in my opinion and I am blessed to have both. I'm very thankful for my FG family btw:-4
Slippy, I hope you are having a good day today!!:-4

I deal with things in my every day life that are hard, I wouldn't call it a disability because I'm not disabled. But I have major depressive disorder that can make life extremely difficult at times. I've had reconstructive chest surgery when I was 12 & 15. I have scoliosis, although right now it's not causing me much pain, but in the future I'm sure it will. And the list could go on about all the hard experiences that I've gone through in life. We all have struggles. The point is, I'm a firm believer in making the best of what we've got.

Of course it's okay to have a moan sometimes. And there's nothing wrong with cheering someone up who's down. I'm all for that. But I'm the kinda person to pull you up by your bootstraps and say "Come on, enough of this. Let's get going." I guess it comes from being in my line of work, too.

Give Me a Reason
Not a lot of you will appreciate what I am about to say but here it is , fortunately I am not in the same position as SlipSteam but I have been ill for 30+ years and a number of times I have come to the conclusion that enough is enough , I have a package in my cupboard that I can use when I decide that is it , I have all the sympathy with SlipStream, when I have such a bad day I could scream when I wake the following day , other days I am quite happy when I wake , no amount of encouragement from others telling you to keep your chin up helps , only you yourself know how you feel as to weather you have had enough , at the moment I have to make sure my wife is OK , If I have upset any one I apologize
IF YOU CAN'T SAY GOOD ABOUT SOME ONE , KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT

I'm sure that sucks, Slips. Hmm, has it occured to you that you can be an inspiration to selfish, self centered morons like me.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

er just kidding
lol... no, I work in geriatrics. Interpretation for the layman.... with old people. A good majority of them have Alzheimer's and/or dementia. There are many days where some of them would rather not get out of bed, and rightly so, since those diseases I imagine are hard to live with.

I hope it wouldn't be upsetting to anyone to realize that some people would rather take their life than live in misery day in and day out. I support people when they come to the conclusion that they'd rather not go on living life in constant suffering. But I also believe in looking at every possible angle and trying every possible alternative before that conclusion is made. As for me, I believe at some point I'll take my own life and decide how and when I'm going to die rather than live to an age where I'll feel useless and just wait for death to come. That is still a very, very taboo, stigmatized subject in many places, but to me, it seems the most logical. Why should I stay around living in a warehouse for the old when I'd rather just end it right then and there?
