Thank you Magenta!!:-6
sunburn
I remember years ago scooting across the carpet naked and on my back, trying to shed my skin like a snake. I had been trying to tan my naturally fair hide because I wanted to look hale and hearty. The itching! That was my last attempt. Pale and hearty is just fine.

Ingesting Vitamin E capsules helps to relieve the pain .
Vitamin E causes the capillaries in the skin to expand, which tends to relieve the burning sensation.

DO NOT put BABY OIL on your skin to soothe sunburn. Your skin is still burning hours after, sometimes 24 hours after first being burnt. THAT"S WHY IT HURTS!
Thanks for the info magenta, I never heard of the tomato thing, I'll try it the next time I inadvertantly get Sun burned.
As for the "Baby Oil" thing, my favoriate cousin used to splash baby oil all over himself "before" going in the Sun!!! And then lay out in the Sun for hours, day after day, frying himself like a french fry! (He was a Sun- worshipper) We all told him he was crazy, & he just laughed! He did not turn red, he actually turned a purple color! He was so fried, it hurt me just looking at him! Well, unfortunately he developed melanoma, and after three years of operations & radiation treatments, he still died two years ago this month! So SUN BLOCK 45, or higher is the way to go!

Ow, bloody hell. I don't fancy that!
Cover up with clothes to prevent tanning is good.
I'm not sure why people like tanned skin - to me, pale is far more interesting. As for having a "fake tan" why on earth??
Interestingly, in many places where a deeper skin colour is the norm, people prize lightness of skin colour, and resort to wandering around under parasols, and even trying to lighten their skins with chemicals! It's a funny old world...
