Post by RedGlitter »

I was only gone a couple days, I didn't think anyone would notice and then I got an email from Rob asking after me.

I saw that Where's RedGlitter thread somewhere but I lost it so I'm here now. I had some issues to take care of, mainly my dog situation. I just got back from court. I'm sorry if I worried anyone.:-6

How sympathetic was the judge?

How honest was the complaint?

How did it come out?

*lol* Suspenders. :) Thanks for asking, Bryn...

Well...today I only went to hear my charges and enter my plea. (Not guilty.) I will see my attorney on June 26th and will then get a hearing date.

The judge seemed okay and I was the only person he wished good luck to so either that's a bad sign or a good sign.

The complaint has minor merit. My dogs have barked but I've settled them down. They didn't warrant two cops coming to my door at 4 am and they didn't warrant two visits by animal control either. But since my neighbor is a grumpy jackass, and would rather spend his energy handwalking nastygrams about me to all my neighbors instead of walking to my house and complaining to me personally, I have to jump through these stupid hoops.

The charge of running a kennel without a permit is valid. I never bothered to get one, didn't think I needed it since I live out in the sticks, who would notice. As it turns out I couldn't get one now anyway as I don't live on enough land.

I am bemused that the barking dog offense is criminal while the kennel offense is a misdemeanor. That makes no sense to me. I am upset that the barking dog thing is about $110 per count (two counts for me) and the kennel deal will run a minimum of $750. Like I have that kind of moolah laying around. I haven't even paid off my mother's headstone or my own grave yet.

The sure thing I had fell through and instead of keeping open runs for my dogs while I was collecting medical records, my friend in rescue took in more dogs so now there is no room for mine. I am very unhappy with her. I was beside myself last night in a big way as I have no other alternative and all I could think about was that after all the years, money, time and heartache we've put into this, it could end with a pile of dead dogs. Because of some dumbass neighbor. I'm still trying to finagle a deal with my friend. She will have room after May 30 and I am hoping she will agree to take my dogs then. If not, I have the runs if she'll put them on her land. That would make room. If not that, then I am dead in the water.

I was just hoping for a two week leeway so I could maybe pull off a miracle and when I got a whole month to work with I was ecstatic.

Of course it will only work if she agrees to take them. I'm not proud. I am begging.

Up till this afternoon all I'd had to eat in four days was a lot of sleeping pills because I've been a mess. I don't like it when I have no control over things. I was so nervous. I've only had to be in court once before. I don't remember being that nervous then. But I had more of an attitude problem back then too. ;)

That won't help anyone -you or the animals! Do what you can to prepare and then have faith and believe that it will go your way.

I have 12 dogs. Three are my own pets and nine are being fostered by me until they get homes.

I know you're right, Bryn. I did have a nice lunch today after court. I was starving. And now I'm concentrating on how I can make things work. I was just in a bad place there for a while. It seems like nothing but hardship has befallen my family for the last two years. Sometimes I have more than I can say grace over.

Thank you a bunch for your support! :-4

Yes, I do, Jimbo!! I could sure use one.

When are we going to be able to stop treading?? Haven't we done this long enough? We were treading way back when you first came here! I think we've had our share. :-6

if i could get over tonight and give you a huge jimbo hug i would ,its so unfair that you have to keep dealing with this crapo every day ,but life goes on and i know things are going to be very very tough when chantelle comes over ,i refuse to be down ,coz just in case things go good i want to be in the best position possible to really enjoy the moment :-6 so dont give up i'm sure things will turn around for both of us :-6 your friend jim

I'm not giving up. I may think I am for a while but I always come back because my mean streak is nationwide. Besides, my mom taught me better than that. If it was her going to court she'd be kicking judicial @$$ and doing it with class no less. So I have to do my best.

And don't you give up either. The days are flying by and Chantelle will be there before you know it!! :-6

And hang onto that Jimbo hug for me- you never know where the next FG meet will be and I just might show up to collect! :)

How could you do anything else? When you get a new animal, or several of them, it takes a little time to get them settled, doesn't it! It can't reasonably be done in an instant, can it! They did not bark their heads of at unsociable hours for ages, did they! As you live halfway across the styx, your "neighbour" couldn'tve been badly affected, could he! Even were it true, you have made arrangements to deal with the situation, haven't you (That is what a lawyer would perhaps say, anyway)! Your friends (or hopefully someone nearby, perhaps deaf) say there's

no nuisance, don't they?

Don't take sleeping pills, have 1 pt. good strong beer (strong so that you don't have to get up in the middle of the night), which is a superior method in every way.

Hi Bill! :)

That's what I've been saying all along. I've had these specific dogs in my care for two years and never before had a complaint. At night it gets real quiet here when everyone settles in and sometimes I can hear stuff from four or five acres over or when it bounces off the ravine. But most times I can't even hear my own dogs bark even though they live in back of my house, so how can the clown on the hill hear them? I've since learned from a friend of mine what this guy is like. It seems he dealt with him over a mosquito problem before. The guy has crazy foliage around his place and it's all lush and green because he waters it all day long. He waters it so much that he breeds mosquitos. His place is a total mosquito farm. Then he gets mad when the county won't come out and spray for them. He gets his neighbors to call and complain, just like he got them to complain to animal control and the cops about me. I'm planning to wait a while and then report him to planning and zoning for not building to code and not getting permits for the pool and stuff he's put in. I just want him to be harrassed like he's delivered on me.

But getting back to the dogs. Sometimes they do bark when they want to communicate, and I stop them if it's night time. Day time I don't care. They bark when sirens go down the highway. They bark when the neighbors' Rottweiler is in my yard. And when we had that prowler problem. These are valid reasons. And I hush them up when they do it at night. The man who lives behind me and across the road only hears them at feeding time and he's three acres closer than Bozo on the Hill! He says "dogs bark, so what??" I am just wishing the worst case of crabs on this guy. My mind wanders with all the things I'd like to do and most of those things involve matches and lighter fluid. But prison wouldn't look good on me.

How many dogs are you allowed without a kennel license? Why do neighbors have to make other people's lives miserable instead of being neighborly? :-5

I'm allowed four dogs. I'm going to see if I can get my friend to take on three more. I don't want to be pushy just yet. I was just going to keep them and hope no one noticed but that's a stupid idea.

Would it, I wonder, make a difference if you were "temporarily looking after them for someome" rather than "keeping" them.....

 Why do people have to be so damn mean  Can't they see that you are trying to help these dogs. What are they doing to help!! Its probably those sort that are neglecting the poor animals in the first place
