learner drivers a bloody nusience on the road ( the victor meldrew column)

Post by laneybug »

I'd rather have a student driver go 20 mph than 50, 60, or 70 mph any day of the week. But really. When I was learning, going the speed limit, especially if it was faster than 45, was a little nerve wracking at first. We all need the experience of driving in real traffic when we're first learning. A little patience is required from everyone else while these young ones get their practice in so they can be safe drivers in the future. They're not gonna be perfect!! And getting frustrated and pissed at them is only gonna make you more of a nuisance on the road.

Breathe in... breathe out... this too shall pass. :) Or you can pass the little slow pokes when you get the first chance! Hey, they need that kind of experience, too, learning how to let someone pass them! :D

Was you born with the ability to drive or did you have to learn to drive?

they should trade in their driving licences at 60 yrs old for a free bus pass.
You do know you will be 60 some day, don't you?:yh_ooooo

You said exactly what I was going to say Peg.On reflection though he may not reach sixty driving with an attitude like that.

LOL Mia. I do believe, at some point, perhaps 70 or 75, every few years a person's reflexes and eyes should be tested. I know a man who passed the eye test at the DMV. On the way home, the guy driving him asked him what the road sign said. He said, "I don't know. I couldn't see it." So much for the theory of having their eyes retested.

I must admit Peg,my father in law scared the life out of me a few times when I had to get in his car with him. I am pleased to say he has now given up his car at the age of eighty.anow when I visit he has to get in my car.I am not sure if it was an age thing or because he is a retired taxi driver...lol.

I do believe that you can still find the occasional one in the darker recesses of the Black Country - no work round there mind, but the houses are cheap.

My parents bought a $200,000 house with several acres of land not too long ago. I think it's outrageous that the house was that much since it seems like nothing extraordinary to me.

£200,000 is about $400,000. You do not get much in the UK for this, IMO.

Indeed, £100,000 / $200,000 will barely get you a plot of land in most parts of the country.
