They still call. I'm on the national "DO NOT CALL LIST" for all "Telemarketers"! And yet lately I'm beginning to get more & more telemarketing calls! What's up with that??
Most of them are "Automated recordings" so you can't tell them to bug off. Well you can, if only just for satisfaction to let off steam, but. . . .

I'm sorry Cars! I hate those recordings too. Especially the ones that say "Please hold for an important message." How dare they call my home and put me on hold on my own phone! I hang up. Severely. :wah:
You might know this already but a lot of times when you get calls and no one's there, it's a telemarketing thing where they call to see what time someone answers the phone and then they make a note of it so they know what time you'll be home for them to call you and sell you something. Sneaky snakes!

They also have software to know when you pick up the phone, too... if you're on the DNC list and are recently updated... they can get into serious trouble if you report them. If you tell them not to call again they're never supposed to ever call again. Maybe you could try answering the phone like you're a business... set up your message system for known numbers and anything else gets the business sounding message... or better yet, perhaps something personally directed towards sneaky telemarketers...

Last night I got 3 calls from the same company in about 30 minutes, first one didn't speak quickly enough so I hung up, 2nd one introduced herself in a heavily Indian accent as Lisa Turner - if she's Lisa Turner then I'm Ranjit Singh!! Third one (Derek - yeah right!) got the whole 'for goodness sake not you lot again stop phoning me' rant before I hung up on him too.
I have to say though that these walkaround phones are all well and good but pushing a button to cut someone off is nowhere near as satisfying as slamming the handset down:D

we've switched to only having cell phones but when we used to have a house phone I just wouldn't answer the phone if I didn't recognize the number, heck I rarely answer the phone anyway unless it's hubby...
