I was thinking about stuff I grew up with that doesn't exist anymore. Stuff I wish we still had, either because it was cool or else just because it's a relic from times past.

I wish we still had....

Fotomat. It was always funny that the car of the person who worked there was bigger than the building itself.

Pop that came in the tall glass bottles with crimped lids. Especially RC Cola.

Winchell's with the giant fiberglass doughnut on the roof.

Those rotating platforms car dealers used to put their cars on back in the 1970s.

Cigarette machines. Yeah I know you know I hate smoking but I used to love all the pretty buttons that looked like miniature cigarette packs. Especially Viceroy and Parliament.

Restaurants that had Andes Creme de Menthe chocolates for you on the way out.

Pull tabs on pop cans.

Moon Auto Parts with the big yellow eyes painted on their driveway.

Pop machines with the glass bottles where you'd open up the little side door and pull the bottle straight out, hoping the bottleneck wouldn't break off in your hand.

What do you miss?

Not having to lock your door

walking down the street without being scared

Bonfire night and going up the mountain to chop down the trees then having to guard your Bonfire...what fun that was:)

The old toilet that you had to pull the chain

Lovibond's colourimeter, it was such a cheap, quick and easy way of estimating concentration.

Drive in movies and Jiffy Pop popcorn. The ice cream man and the milk man. People who delivered your groceries as a courtesy and bubble gum machines with prizes in them. Getting toys for Christmas and summer vacations.

Leroy died?!! Holy Crap!!

I watched Fame every week without fail. My favorite was Jesse, the tall cool Puerto Rican dude who could almost never get a break.

I loved it too, got an old Annual somewhere. I liked Leroy and can't remember the other guys name. He wasn't in it from the beginning.

Gene Anthony Ray - Leroy Johnson

After Fame the movie, he was one of the few castmembers to graduate to Fame the TV show, which then spawned The Kids from Fame live show that toured England. But other than that, it seems this real life rebel with no professional dance training but a lot of pizazz found professional work hard to find. He lived for several years in Italy before returning to the US. Gene's last onscreen appearance (see picture above) was for a BBC documentary on Fame taped in April 2003. At that time, he was HIV-Positive. Two months later, he suffered a stroke and died soon after. RIP Leroy.

I watched the movie the other night, recorded it for Jenna, told her what a great show it was, she watched maybe 10 mins before saying it was rubbish, she then went upstairs and put Pink on full blast :-5

I watched the whole movie, remembered all the words to the songs too, much to the disgust of everyone in my house :wah:

I thought Danny ( I mean Dante) was pretty cool but when Jesse came in, that was all it took for me.

I used to get so mad at how Nia Peeples would treat him. Prissy thing.

Remember when Jesse was going to get deported and Nia (whatever her name was) couldn't marry him because her parents said no so Doris "married" him to keep him in the states? I loved that episode!!!

I just found out that Jesse plays some dude on CSI Miami. I guess I better start watching that show.

There was this dance scene he did on Fame once. Man. He looked so good in skin tight Levis. Damn, Sam.

lol I always thought he looked gay! I LOVED Doris, forgot about her, how could I?
