Is it me...or them?

Post by koan »

I've been called all sorts of things lately. A common theme is "higher than thou" or other such names intimating that I have a superiority complex. Funny thing is: I never think in those terms. Obviously the people labeling me do. So who has the problem? That I may appear to have a superiority issue is entirely a possiblity but...if ya all knew what my life is like it would be quite ridiculous for me to think I am perfect.

So here it is for the world that seems concerned:

i think the recent debacle with kensloft has you feeling unjustly accused and perhaps beseiged. who has no flaws? i know what you are dealing with, and you'll be your usual strong self! we do tend to suffer some angst when travailed. don't we women just know it!? :)

Koan, you could knock me over with a feather :D . I would never have guessed  .

Look, you write very well and you express yourself skillfully. People get jealous and start thinking they can make up for their shortcomings by dragging you down. Forget about it.

Since BR was the one who has been calling me pompous for the last month or so then rivaled my thread with one of her own where she called me out is so typical of her style. Let's see. I don't care for competition.

You all don't need to know the details of our war and, frankly, stealing my thread idea then thinking she wins is all i needed to know about what type of person i am dealing with.

Well. She got more responses. I guess that means you all like her more. How ridiculous. I ask no one to make choices between who they like more. Understand the difference. I know who I am. Regardless of what people may call me. I need no confirmation. There is no name I can be called that disrupts what I know about myself. I'll call myself the name first. With a smile on my face. :D That was the point of my thread.

Koan, don't sweat it. I think your posts are interesting and thought provoking. As for the name slinging...don't sweat that either. Whenever I'm in a discussion or arguement with someone and they resort to name calling, I secretly smile because I know I'm winning and in some small area in the back of their mind.....they've realized I'm winning too. Name calling is a sign of weakness.

Name calling is so 3rd grade:)

And let us not forget about the concept of projection when people resort to this.

My mom always said to let your words be sweet incase you have to eat them.

On one forum a guy called me Blotto Tragic. At least it was some what of a creative put down:)

The worst thing I ever said to someone was a gal who called a friend of mine a slut.

I replied while your so loose you have to use a fran oil filter as a tampon.

I think I'll start a new thread on this. Forgot about that fine cut down.

Things may have heated up in the garden. I was real excited about winning a trafic pod and got labled a spamer for posting about my win. I don't have any luck with Pay Pal so the only way for me to get a Pod was to win it.

Koan, it does not seem to be you. You offered explanantion for yourself and the "validation" is called testing of the truth, which you have spoken the truth. You are fair with judgement to others and seem to have "one" speed at all times. You are consistent with debate without flip-flopping from person to person to avoid what you may have started. Its good to bring issues up like this as they take place often. This is just as interesting as Soap Operas which i don't watch. The forum needs better filtration if people are insulted by others at our damn age, thats what its all about, say it! how ridiculous.

I still think we need a brawl thread where you can go in no holds barred and mud sling to your hearts content.

Ah Koan those who see your flaws are looking way to closely. This is the internet people are going to make you out to be what ever suits their fancy. And likely these types don't really know you at all so hun don't sweat it. LC once thought I was a teacher now that cracks me right up cause I can't spell to save my life. So see easy to conjur up misconceptions here. We all have flaws of some sort and personally I like you BC attitude.

yes especially when in private you can't resolve a problem. I think a bar room brawl is good.

As long as it does not end up in people ganging up on one single person, and rules are set, and people are allowed to fling what they like with out intervention. Hehehe but..... it can be over used too I think. My point I guess is we can't all like each other, we can't all be liked by each other and going public with our beefs could be dicey.

I'm on a forum with a bash section. It gets pretty rough in there sometimes and usually bleeds out (sarcism and digs) into other threads. Its unmoderated, but admin usually tries to keep it in the bash thread when he's there. Also, members get tired of hearing it and start telling them to take it to the bash thread. Make for interesting reads sometimes though.

we are adults, BASH Section, what a great idea. Everyone would be there most the time. Its difficult when you have to kiss butt and not be yourself, thats a liar? How the heck can you not help it sometimes, you know yourself there are FIESTY persons who just need to vent their tensions and feel authoritive! BASH THREAD, a place to chew the fat? Great Idea. Do you need a password to enter?

Bash section could help keep the rest of the threads from turning into dig sessions. Pent up anger can be unleashed and maybe they can get over it faster. People who don't want to hear about it, can just stay out of the bash section. Poll time? Sure....I don't know how to set one up though. Hopefully admin will read this and give us his thoughts. We all have the ignore facility in our settings, if anyone has a problem with another member would'nt it be better to use that.

IMO the idea of a brawl thread is a bad idea, as several people have already pointed out it could, & probably would spill out into other threads, which would spoil the whole ethos of the forum.

It could also divide the members loyalties to one another, bloody hell within 2 week no-one would be talking to one another! :yh_peace

I could never use ignore function unless I was completly put out by someone and constantly POed about what they post. I like a good discussion/debate on occasion, even though they sometimes get heated. I like to tell my side and why I feel like I do about something.....but I also like to hear the other side as well.

Abbey i don't agree with you. A Thread Named Brawl or Bash is not appropriate. But you do realize there are people within the forum who need that space at times to express themselves. I don't care what any one says, it is absouletly hilarious. People do have "real" emotions, and they should be heard, where to draw the line, i have not the answer. :yh_beatup Loyalties are on an individual level, you know who your friends are, sometimes.

WHY? As "Rodney" said some years ago: Can't we all just get along!!?? :-2

I'm here just for the "FUN" of it, & possibly to learn something, not to Brawl!!!

Maybe a "Bash" section may not be such a bad idea, and let anyone who wants to Brawl, go at it in there. :-5

Alrighty then. While I've been a moderator here I have often taken a deep breath, put on my thinking hood and tried to find the 'logical' thing to say. Um. Okay that's what I usually do anyway. But sometimes I really want to LET LOOSE AND GIVE SOMEONE A PIECE OF MY MIND! but i don't because i agreed to be a moderator and it felt like a violation of my 'vows'. Now I am 'free', I don't expect much to change. But y'all might find out I have a temper too. At least I have the option now.

I noticed, RSF, how you think people on the forum are intensely interested in everything about you. You remind me of about three hundred people I already know and don't give a rat's ass about. If you would like to address me and your thoughts on my personality. That is what this thread was started for. See how much support you get.

I get the same thing all the time Koan, someone has already said on this board, and I quote, "I hate posting after Anastrophe and Jives"

When you are extremely literate and intelligent, you can either dumb down, (which I was expert at in High School) or you can be yourself and risk being labeled "arrogant".

As I got older I chose the latter. My ex-principal once even called me that, I told her, "Arrogance is when you think you are better than you really are, when you really are that good, it's called "supremely self-confident." That shut her up for a while.

So...I guess I'm saying, be yourself, it's better to be labeled for something you are, than for something you're not.

Besides, despite sheild of that astounding intellect of yours, your soft, warm personality shows through every crack. To people that take the time to really know you, it's apparently that you are a very gentle, loving woman. ;)

no worries, mominiowa

I've always thought it was fun to be a bitch at times and have recently discovered that it must mean something great...based on the reasons I was called one. I believe there is some previously hidden meaning that has to do with being excellent at winning an arguement. :wah:
