Annoying Friends-who has one??

Post by RedGlitter »

We have a family friend we've known for about 20 years. She's a goodhearted person and we think a lot of her. But lately I've been finding my backbone twitching when she comes around. She's the one I wrote about once after she started opening my mail. It's done under the guise of being my dad's eyes as he can't see to read. Once she opened something of mine and I hear "Terri, you owe $145 to..." Geez! Well she's finally stopped opening my mail but now some other habits are developing.

She comes about every other day and sets with my dad and talks with him and complains about a variety of things. I used to be polite company but anymore I just put on my earphones and mill around the house until she leaves. I know that's rude but it's not like she's coming to see me so I don't feel too bad.

She has started helping herself into my house. If I'm late to the door, she walks in. This really bugs me. I never lock my doors during the day and the one time I did, she about pounded my door down.

When she arrives, she baby talks my dogs and gets them all riled up and if you know that Bassett Hound bay, you might know it's not enjoyable at 8 AM.

The kicker for me was about a week ago. We three were going to go to the cemetery to see my mom's and her husband's graves. I opted not to go at the last minute which I've never done before. She was p.issed at me. Wanted to know why I wasn't going. I didn't feel I owed anyone an explanation so I just said I didn't want to go that day. I figured if my mama understood, then anyone else ought not to question me about it.

So they came back and I was sleeping on the couch and she comes right up to the couch and *yells* at me, " Ter-Ter! We're BACK!!" Then she kept speaking really loudly just to wake me up like I was some insolent 15 year old too lazy on summer vacation. I went back to sleep anyway.

Then she called that night to tell my dad to make sure I went to the cemetery the next time. And when I got a load of that, I turned 14 again and I found myself saying, "You're not my fkin' mother!!"

Her way of talking is impossible to describe but after a while, you might consider slamming your head in a car door just to make you stop thinking about it. Nothing can be said normally. Everything must be cute. Except it's not. And everything has to be said at high decibel. Same with laughing. I'm not a morning person by any stretch. At 7, 8, 9, AM, I don't want to hear all this noise.

She's speaking to me again but she was really p.issed at me over the cemetery. Which p.issed *me*off. (Ok, I've said p.iss 3 times now, I think that's my word for the day) I never thought I'd have to explain my business about that to anyone else. I just don't feel that I do. My mom knows and that's all that matters.

So yesterday I stuck on my earphones when she came over and went about my business. It was bliss. No yelling, or barking dogs or anything.

And guess who just pulled in....

I think that I would have hauled off and slugged her:wah: I had 2 friends who were always trying to control me and change me. I finally dumped both of them....I just can't be around people like that anymore....they depress me too much. Life is too short to have that albatross around your neck.

She definately has to go. I feel for you. She really has some nerve. Start locking your doors during the day, and if she pounds it will give you the opportunity to put her in her place. Cuteness is a cover up for rudeness. Id rather straight forward rude.
