It depends.

If Im in a thoughtful mood I might enjoy cozying up to spocks insights on

theoretical quantum mechanics and string theory.

For instance the time Spock worked himself into a frenzy describing resonance

patterns of microwaves. That was intriguing. I cant get enough of that.

Then there was the time he spiraled into a maniacal violent agitated state

discussing ultramicroscopic three dimensional thermodynamic supersymmetric

standard model tachyon's.

I really thought that episode was going to tear FG apart, but alas it didnt.

We survived, we gained and crossed some imaginary (or not) evolutionary

boundary so VIVA Spock.

Thats what I say. Sometimes too much, in fact I get nervous when I find

myself on the bippy at 3am muttering VIVA Spock. That cant be right.

Then I get all insecure and wonder what happened to me. Anyway Im glad we

had this time to share. I think Im walking away a better person because of it.

I hope you feel the same, I really do.

Has anyone seen my slippers ?

Yes, if I'm interested in it. I admit I don't read Coberst's posts usually, but that's because philosophy is way over my head, not because I don't care.

I don't read hardly any of the "world conspiracy/freemasons are the devil" posts or the excessive religious posts because my eyes glaze over and my interest wanes. But just a regular long post about something I can understand, I'll most likely read it.

I can assure you Beth feels no need to defend me here. My posts aren't long anyways; they are the normal size for someone with your average attention span, the desire, and half a brain to digest. The ones outside of the WRITING forum anyways.

I am far from upset. If I was upset there would be cursing and metaphors being used. Don't expect to ask questions and get cookie cutter answers when those questions are posed on a forum as full of different personalities and opinions as this one is. I don't get angry at people who I see in person that do things far worse to me than ask a question about "long posts". This following statement is not meant to be hurtful, but don't flatter yourself with thinking you can upset me. I've been stabbed before and told the person that did it that I was sorry my arm got in their way. just because I don't throw a :-6 up doesn't mean I am angry.

That's the question, are you saying its not ok to ask it?

almostfamous;650743 wrote: And that's fine but what was the point? To belittle those that write long posts and censor them unknowingly because they don't want to look stupid in the future?

If you post a few words you're thought unintelligent. If you post more than a few lines, you're thought long-winded. If you post more than 5 times a day, you're an attention whore. blahblahblah.

Thats your take on it, not my words

Are you saying it is not okay to answer it? You can't ask it if you don't want an answer. You also can't expect the answers to be what you wanted; not all of them.

Of course its ok to answer it, what i'm wondering is why you got so uptight about it, it was not aimed at you, thats' your paranoia that your posts are too long & therefore your issue not mine.

I never thought the thread was about me, still don't. I thought you asked a question and I answered it using myself as the focus. I for sure am not paranoid about posting long posts. That is obvious considering i've posted two that were over 4 thousand words each today. I answered the question posed. The first answer was done as funny as i could think of doing. I'll gladly leave the thread and move on to something else if you feel like I am being selfish with the attention. If I thought it was about me, I would have said. "I see you posted something about the fact that I write long winded posts".

Not at all Spot, in fact your long posts are one's i do read if i'm interested in the subject at the time. You always make sure your facts are right before posting so i know its worth reading.

I also very much enjoy some of the long political posts. Politics is not something you can shorten. Its the heavily bias long threads i have issues with.

Long posts are fine, I read them if it's something that I'm interested in or by a person who interests/challenges/engages me.

My only request is that paragraphs are used more often - I'm getting old and my eyes can't cope with long posts that just run on without any breaks - makes me go bosseyed. Thanks.:)

I have a short attention span, but I do read long posts if its something that interests me and that I have the time, there are times that I'm just skimming through...

I would never want to offend anyone about their posts, so I just don't comment...there are a few that I will see and try to remind myself to go back to when I have the time.
