Would you wear a wedding dress from ebay?

Post by SuzyB »

I have seen a beautiful wedding dress on ebay, it's a 6th of the price that was paid for it, it hasn't been worn, apparently she meet another guy :-3 , still has all it's labels attached.

Would you consider it bad luck or a bit shabby buying a wedding dress from ebay?

(Yzgi & Soberanal I am trying to be serious, just thought I'd warn you before you say you would definitely wear it:D )

We have a friend from the pub whose Dad brought her a wedding dress 3 years ago, a whole 2 years before she met her boyfriend! Now that is freaky!

Thats what I thought, it is really lovely, thing is I would never justify paying the original price, well in fact I wouldn't even pay half of the original!

I was looking this evening at halls etc, decisions, decisions, late wedding that goes straight to a buffet style disco, or more formal? I can't think of anything worse than sitting down eating posh food and listening to serious speeches, we are the mingle with everyone type of people, eating when we feel like it (i like it a bit too much :o ) having a boogie and a laugh with friends and family.

I wouldn't think twice, Suzy. If you like it, go for it. Retail priced goods are plain foolery, I avoid them like the plague. The only clothes I own that came retail are socks and underwear, and they're from Woolies.

Piffle! You don't need to be losing any weight Suzy, you're lovely. You had better marry up Jimbo before someone else snags him! ;)

This is really cool news! And yes, I'd buy a dress from eBay or pretty much anywhere even if it was pre-owned if I really loved it.

Suzy

I bought my wedding dress at a garage sale - I was wearing a bathing suit & a pair of shorts running from garage sale to garage sale - there was this wedding dress, I dropped my shorts & tried it on, the lady brought me in her house for a mirror, the dress was real full but I'm a seamstress so alterations are not a problem.

The lady let me have the dress for $15.00 - I had to get it at that price.

A friend just went thru a divorce and was selling her diamond wedding ring cluster

I bought / stole the ring at $300.00.

I should start a business Weddings on a budget.!!!!

My dress was beautiful, so was our rings..

Good luck

Congratulations hunni :-4

& yes i would wear a dress from e-bay, why pay hundreds or thousands for a dress you will wear once?

Other thoughts are oxfam actually have a bridal section & local college's seamstress dept's students have to do portfolio's to pass exams. A friend of mine bought the material & a student ran it up for her, win, win situation, dress was as my friend wanted it & student passed her exam.

p.s who's the lucky guy?

That made me laugh, don't think i'll be stripping in the street to try one on, folks will be in threapy for a very long time. I have the same kind of attitude as you, I don't see the point of paying a fortune, well actually I don't have a fortune 'to' pay, the most important thing is we have a good time with out worrying about paying the wedding off for the next 5 years.

That is a great idea, we have a university about 10 miles from me, well worth emailing them.

p.s I'll PM you, can't let Jim find out ;)

Theres no reason to go into debt for a wedding. Simplicity is just a lovely as a expensive Ta Ta production.

The only reason I was running around in a bathing suit & shorts is I live where its very hot outside. 117 degrees today....

I hemmed my dress so it tappered, short (ankle length) in front to long in back, we were married on the beach in Hawaii - we wore sandals - 3 years this November.

Have you checked out second hand stores - (thrift store) ? Newspaper ?

What are your plans?
