Like Buttercup, I got to thinking.
For those who objected to the girl giving it up for ten grand saying she had "loose morals," if she were your son, would you think the same? Or would you cater to that disgusting double standard?

Only winding you up Red Glitter. Just double highlighting the fact that we do have double standards when it comes to the male population. We call the girl a whore and the guy a stud. Its wrong i agree, but society dictates this behaviour.

Then why do we let it dictate to us? I've always felt the best way to kill a stigma is to face it down and do the thing you're not "supposed" to do.
It just frosts me that in the 41 years I've been on the planet, sex is still only for men. Forget that!

I'd say taking that course of action doesn't kill the stigma, it just widens the group attached to it. If you only do it because you're not supposed to, for the sake of protest, then you're still letting it control you- instead of just doing either what others do or don't want you to, make the uninfluenced choice yourself.

No, don't take me wrong. I don't do things just to protest. I do them if I want to do them. If I want to do something, stigma does not stop me. I don't respect it and don't respect the people who would judge me by it.

"Double Standards", changing that for the general populous, unfortunately most likely will not occur in our life time! It undoubtly will change, but very slowly over many years, just like women getting the vote. That took many years of woman's sufferage & never-ending perserverance! Actually it seems like women's views on & or actually admitting desiring sex has only been openly expressed & discussed between the sexes say within the last 30 or so years. Getting more & more outspoken over the years, good for them!!!
Men like Sex, Women like sex, end of story! Double Standards must end!

It seems to me that if you go back a few hundred years, discussion was far more open. It is only during certain periods in history that such a subject has been tabu - if you look at the history of various countries, you may find that when one spawned another, then certain thoughts or ideals were kept, or changed, at differing rates.

Some time back there was a post on here, asking if you would just have a man friend for sex.The majority of women said no because they would become emotionaly involved. Now most men are capable of emotionless sex,so they have a different mindset to women. I don't think they expect to marry a virgin, but if a woman has a lot of history then they just do not except it.
Why is this scenario not vice versa? Look at the animal world most species it is the strong male with his harem.
I suppose attitudes go back to the caveman days when a bloke impregnated as many females as pos.We have come a long way since those days,But I think we have a long way to go before men will allow their daughters to sleep around, and not buy their son a pint when he does. Women still have the equality battle on their hands. We are getting there slowly.Look how long it was, and how they had to fight just to have the right to vote.I am afraid it is still a mans world as far as some things go.
Just my thoughts.
