Air Pollutant Warnings in California.

Lon you may live in a tidy community with a tidy yard and tidy neighbors but you still have to breathe California air.

These are some of the air quality tests California uses.

Ozone (O3):invisible, irritates and impairs breathingNitrogen Dioxide

(NO2):brown, impairs breathingCarbon Monoxide

(CO):invisible, reduces bloods oxygenParticulate Matter under 10 microns

(PM10):invades deep into lungs, reduces visibilityFine Particulate Matter 2.5 microns

(PM 2.5):invades deep into lungs, reduces visibility

Not all of California has a bad pollution problem. Fortunately, I don't live in LA and am high enough where our real problem is pollens, which raises hell with allergies. Smoke from recent fires in the Sierras not too far from here has been a problem the past two weeks.

Even Christchurch NZ, where I live for part of the year has a pollution problem, and it's on an island with breezes for crying out loud.

Glad I gave up smoking years ago.

Air pollution in southern California is better than it was when I was a kid. We have pretty bad pollution here in Baltimore, I have never seen so many children with serious asthma problems because of it.
