Changing my lifestyle.

Post by JacksDad »

Just arrived home from dinner with my dear friend Jamie.

Cute, eh?

God I love her. But that's another story.

We went to The Chart House. It's right on the Indian River. Fantastic view.

We both started with the shrimp cocktail which is colossal shrimp & rock shrimp in a gazpacho cocktail sauce, and the crab stuffed mushrooms

baked in a white wine sauce.

Jamie had the lobster bisque laced with sherry but I passed. Too many souse chefs seem to ignore that one simple dish and it's always f'd up. Prefer to make my own.

For the main course I had the Australian Lobster Tail baked with gremolata butter, served with seasonal vegtables and rice pilaf, creamed spinach and steamed fresh asparagus. Jamie ate the Chilean Sea Bass. Buttery, white, flakey texture broiled and slightly seasoned. And of course chilled Sauvignon blanc.

So. What did I miss on NASCAR?:D

:wah: JD!

Are you going to the other side? Or just finding out how the other half lives?

NASCAR and corn dogs is the way to go! It's American!

Honestly, Red. I prefer the golf channel and football. Nascar bores me.

And I have been on that side. When I was married we owned our own graphics company and were quite succesful. New cars, trips to Orlando, New York and Vegas. Hookers every weekend. (Wife was bi) We once spent a month at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Yes a month. It's one of my favorite memories.

Then, as I've posted in the past, the walls came tumblin down.

I slept in the woods, in the rain and dumpster dived for dinner.

As far as I'm concerned, you can take that snobass lifestyle and shove it up your as5.

No money in the world can buy the simple beauty that is life. Living.

Jamie and I do that as often as we can. My friend Peter and I opt for steak instead of seafood at least once a week. And life is good.

There's a thunderstorm brewing. Think I'll go sit outside with a cigar and some Cabernet Sauvignon.

JD, you knew I was teasing you, right? There's nothing wrong with enjoying nice things. But I agree with you on the snobby life. I've never been rich but have had family who were and it does make things different. I don't eat corndogs because I'm poor. I eat them because I like them. :-6

I'm glad you had a good time!!

Whew JD I have been down a similar path as you.... my ex was all about the show he had to have the big toys and the fancy house parties to show off. It was crazy. Then it got the better of him he had to color outside of the lines with a woman who thought he had big bucks, well I lost everything due to his huge huge tax debts and it reduced me to living in near poverty while he lied his way out of **** leaving me to pay. Well I clawed myself out of that dark pit, and now live a very simple basic life not like I was used to but..... I am finding I like the simplicity but still worry about my finances and if I can make ends meet every month but hey that is life for us all isn't it. I am happy to be in control of myself and proud of getting to where I am :)
