The BBC's had a rotten time recently. It really shouldn't happen to an old lady.

We all know that her left/liberal bias has been showing for years. She hates Israel, the USA, capitalism etc.

The other day she had to apologise to Her Majesty the Queen.

Now it seems she's been behaving dishonestly with her phone-ins and 'competitions', including those associated with big charity events.

And we Britons have to pay for her if we have a (probably Japanese) TV on the premises, even if we swear on our mother's grave that we never watch any of Aunties programmes. If we refuse we can be sent to jail.

It's about time she was humanely euthanised.

Love to all,

You need to do a few more Post Office blags, son.

Or you could just bleedin' nick one. That's what I did.

Totally disagree. The alternative is so so much worse. Just watch sky TV for a little while-and pay through the nose for it.

from the oxford english dictionary

liberal

• adjective 1 willing to respect and accept behaviour or opinions different from one’s own. 2 (of a society, law, etc.) favourable to individual rights and freedoms. 3 (in a political context) favouring individual liberty, free trade, and moderate reform. 4 (Liberal) (in the UK) relating to the Liberal Democrat party. 5 (especially of an interpretation of a law) not strictly literal. 6 given, used, or giving in generous amounts. 7 (of education) concerned with broadening general knowledge and experience.

left wing

• noun 1 the radical, reforming, or socialist section of a political party or system. with reference to the National Assembly in France (1789-91), where the nobles sat to the president’s right and the commons to the left. 2 the left side of a sports team on the field or of an army.

You live in a country and culture where left wing/liberal values hold sway and fascism lost out. Count your blessings

Are you a Scot, gmc? It's pretty much a socialist republic up there in the glens any way, isn't it?

I take your point about the ghastly alternatives to the BBC. If the BBC just made more of an effort to reflect some of the views held by many millions of viewers and listeners forced to pay it money (or be sent to jail) because they have a TV set in the house I'd be delighted. It would then have returned to being a truly national (ie representative) organisation.

I remember someone likening a miraculous event to '...finding a BBC job advertised in a newspaper other than the Guardian.'

I count my blessings every day, by the way. As I read The Daily Telegraph.

*I've dropped the 'Love to all bit'. It was the wife's idea to make me seem less stuffy, old-fashioned and fascistic. I wanted to sign off with 'Yours sincerely'. We've compromised.

Yep. don't see the point in hiding my good fortune. Not the glens but in the towns more yes than no. That's one of the reasons labour got a kicking at the last scottish parliament election, they make the mistake of taking scots support for granted and most seem to be gettying fed up with TB. Be interesting to see if GB keeps his seat.

I too read the daily telegraph but not in it's entirety as I trawl through various papers using the internet.

What views should they reflect? I reckon so long as they are being criticised by all sides they are doing OK. Reporting both sides of a political question is going to annoy somebody probably both.

We are such a diverse nation the task is impossible and would probably be a mistake to try IMO. I don't know what means you could use to test "britishness" or define what represents the nation but I'm fairly sure the typical british response should be "F(&*K O%%" to anyone daft enough to try and define what it is.

Being polite enough to answer your question?

What's your point? And why?

Making allowances for the less effective english system of education I deliberately used simple words. Which ones did you have difficulty with? You confirm what I've always thought about telegraph readers.
