I presume that your phrase "anyone who's committed a misdemeanor" applies to those convicted of a misdemeanor. Those convicted have been dealt with and are no longer criminals. I don't believe anyone should hire a person currently involved in committing a misdemeanor, no. Society would be better served by having that person, that criminal, arrested. It's a wonderful catch 22, that. You have a law which defines them as criminal. You refuse to apply it to arrest and convict them, so they stay unconvicted of their misdemeanor and remain perpetually criminal in terms of the law you set in place to begin with. You then use it as the basis of who can or cannot be employed. It does seem rather self-serving.

When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.
Who has a spare two minutes to play in this month's FG Trivia game! ... My other OS is Slackware.

Yeh. Drives me nuts. They make laws then don't provide the means to enforce them. Now they want to make new laws because the old laws aren't being enforced. I don't hear anyone asking the question - how are we supposed to enforce these new laws??
Maybe it would do us more long-term good to invade Mexico rather than Iran.
At least then we can pat ourselves on the back for reducing the number of illegals.
