Do you have a collection ???

Post by pepperband »

What do you collect?

How did you get started?

Would you ever consider selling your collection?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here's mine:
I have a collection of PEZ
I got started when my children were young, I'd buy them a PEZ
the kids would eat the candy and leave the toy just laying around, so I began throwing the used PEZ toys into a basket
one day I had a basket full
and I did not know what to do with them, so I bought a shelf for the wall, and there the PEZ are on display
the most fun thing about having this collection is ~~~> the comments made by visitors... it's a conversation-starter, for sure
"Oh wow, look at all of these! I used to have this one." .... etc.
I am not obsessed with PEZ, or anything like that, but I just like them
they remind me of the fun times we had with the kids when they were growing up
the oldest PEZ I have is 20 years old
the WORST part of having this collection is ~~~> people think they should buy them for me.... but, I am very particular about which ones I like, and I am polite when someone brings me a PEZ , which I already have 2 or 3 exactly like it
I like the Simpsons PEZ
the Star Wars PEZ
the Batman PEZ collection (different styles of Batman)
the Spongebob squarepants PEZ group
and, of course, all the Disney character PEZ
I have a PEZ for just about every holiday
I have a very cool Wonderwoman PEZ (I saw someone here with WW as their avitar)
Warner Brothers cartoon PEZ
.... gee, maybe I am a nut ???
I started collecting baseball cards in 1984, I have an entire box of 1952 Topps cards, unopened. That was mantle's rookie card year. I haven't bought a pack in more than a decade. I have tons and tons though. I have the number one issue of the X-men and several other comics. My first job was also in a baseball card and comic book shop. I also collected stamps. Now the only thing I still collect is old books and stories.
I started a collection of unwanted gray hairs. It began about 12 years ago and has progressed to the point where my collection now encompasses my ears and eye brows. The eyebrow collection is particularly interesting because they grow right to left, as well as left to right, and some completely vertical, obscuring my vision. The hair in the ears are troublesome, in that they impair my hearing. I religiously attempt to get rid of my collection using a number of devices from just pulling them out by hand (ouch), or using a razor and scissors, but alas, they seem to grow back over night. I would be willing to give this collection to anyone that is interested. I have a skin tag collection and other little pieces of flesh that seem to surface on my body periodically to keep me busy.
I have a small crystal ball collection that a former boyfriend started for me.
I have a large collection of pigs. Stuffed pigs, ceramic pigs, cute pigs, realistic pigs and one very large soft pink pig which is the crowning point of my pig array. I just like pigs, they're cute and I think it was nice of God to make pink animals. Although other color pigs are fine too. My favorite mythological character is Circe. She turned Ulysses' men into pigs. Circe was my screenname for years. The pig thing just kind of stuck with that. My pig collection is pretty much complete now.
I collect birds. Ceramic ones, metal ones, glass ones, bird jewelry. Birds are my favorite animal and I am fascinated with them.
I have a large jewelry collection, much of it vintage or antique. I couldn't say how many pieces exactly but it's extensive and has been a lifelong collection.
I collect coins. Wheat cents and foreign coins.
I think one of the reasons I am so attached to my PEZ collection is ~~~> this is something I have that survived a large earthquake 13 years ago.
The only PEZ pieces that broke were the ones I stepped on in the dark:)
I had some really valuable stuff, dishes and crystal, that became trash in seconds (loudly). Stuff I only used for special occasions.
I vowed that day to either use my stuff or get rid of it ....
PEZ toys really have no purpose, except to please me :)
I have my 8-track player & old stereo system, and tapes I also have the old reel to reel.
Ashtrays are sorta vintage - any advertisment is the best value, even the hotels from Vegas(glass).
Disneyland use to have ashtray sets - actually in todays world, its interesting that everyone supported smoking - I've been to auctions - some are worth more than people think.
Skin tags? Gross. Do any of them have a price on 'em?
When I was a kid I collected matchbooks and airline schedules. Finally, one day, my father made me get rid of all of them.
