I understand that sometimes people don't recognize names and such, but those that have been reading will understand enough of them.



I had a nice trip to St. Louis. I took no pictures. I wrote about the bad of it all already and if you haven't seen it there is a reason. It isn't personal because of you; it is just personal to me.

I think everyone I saw met me with the question of, "When are you coming back?" It was more of a homecoming than coming home was. No one called me KB, but everyone smiled, a few cried, and I got hugs from a dozen people. My old boss asked where I would be drifting to next since I didn't have an anchor anymore. I told him I really had no idea, and his reply was, "well call me first". It took me an hour to make my way around that old store of mine, smiles were everywhere. Lots of good laughing, jokes were told, and people were flabbergasted when I pulled out my cell phone to get numbers.

I saw the look in a good friend's eye as he made it clear how he felt about something. I have a saying that all I ask from my friends is to look me in the eye when you lie to me and I'll follow you to hell and back out again. If you look me in the eye and tell the truth I won't just follow you in, but I'll pick you up and carry you around to see the sights before we leave. We laughed about how bad the music was since I had left, that the CD I made before my last day there had been on repeat for two months. I told them how someone kept turning my music down back home, and that I was going to end up having to cut someone over it.

This is not going to be in chronological order.

Brent, who is my brother, and I got to Russell and Menard, Joanie's; at about 11:20 in the morning, the place was empty except for one customer. I opened the door with a nervous feeling in my gut, and I saw my Muse, apparently no one had told her I was coming back for a visit. She looked tired and wore out but she lit up like firecrackers when she saw me. It felt good. I got to eat my crispy chicken sammich with bacon, and Brent had one as well. Mike, one of the cooks, said it had been a long time since he had been asked to put bacon on a crispy chicken sandwich, and he knew it was for me when the order came in. I felt like I had walked back into a place where I belonged. I got to see Kirby for a little while and he told us we could stay with him. I would have but things got a little heavy towards the end of the night and he was tired anyways. Brent and me just rolled out with a couple of half hugs and some good byes.

I got to see my friend B.Dot, Brian Parker. He is a damn good man. I wish I had someone like him back home. The conversations here at work aren't as easy as the ones with him. I didn't get to see Romeo, he was in Tennessee. His mother was sick at the same time my Grandfather was. She finally gave up the ghost and he had to be the one to make the final decision on letting her go. We talked on the phone for awhile, laughed about a few things, and when he asked me about Idaho I told him, "**** Idaho". He laughed like I had told the funniest joke he had ever heard. I miss both those guys one hell of a lot.

Mona and her husband Jerry came to Joanie's that night to see me, and we had a few Vodka tonics, and talked about a lot of different things. I asked my brother how old he thought Mona was and he told me he figured she was in her late thirties. You keep it up Mona, and eventually you will be able to pull off the deal when you say that we were born in the same hospital, but that I was born a few years earlier. You did look damn good, tell Jerry to watch out.

By the way I do have an anchor here, a strong one made of the best iron and steel that has ever been seen. I might just be an anchor myself, a little more rusty and the chain looks like it might break any minute, but I guarantee it won't.

I'm going to end the story with a little vagueness. I picked a fight on the way back to Tennessee that night. I picked a fight with something that has pulled some great men and women deep down into a hell nastier than Dante ever thought about trying to explain. Like I said before, I love a good fight, and this one is worth it. My position will be known to the thing I am fighting for in a few days, the U. S. Postal service willing. Pray for a Muse of mine, and pray for my fight. I've got one hell of a woman standing by me back here in Tennessee and she has a fight of her own I am trying my best to help her with. Sometimes life ain't linear, but it works out one way or another.

Be good folks, and think about the lost souls that wander among us every day. Take one in every once in awhile. Always remember that sinners make the best saints.
