Do you have good self esteem? What do you think is the cause?

I have self esteem in every area of my life except for relationships.

The reason I have self esteem in every area other than relationships is because I can control those areas. I can control my performance on the job, I can control how I parent, to some degree I have control over my appearance.

Relationships I have no self esteem because I have been royally screwed over in ever serious relationship I have had as an adult. I'm starting to think it's me....

I do real good most days. I am comfortable with my body, but I am 60 pounds lighter than I was a year ago, but even then I did alright just wasn't as comfortable with my clothes off. I've not been a sufferer of poor self esteem in a long while. You find enough beautiful women that love you for who you are and you grow more comfortable with yourself every day. I guess I can thank the devil in Houston for that if nothing else. She adored me from day one, and told me so.

Mentally I am sure of myself as well. Not hubris here. I just realize that I am a decently intelligent man. Only issues I have is with my conflicts of the heart sometimes, but I don't think that is a self esteem issue.

I have great self esteem because everyone except my boss and maybe a few others tell me how great I am. :wah:

Oh no!!!:o It's a mistake and I'll bet it won't take me long to fix it.

There went my self esteem again. I saw my boss four hours ago and it's taken all that time to build it up again...a wasted effort now.

I used to have major self esteem issues. Now I refuse to give anyone that much power. I do my best at whatever I do and if that isn't good enough, sorry for their luck.

Oh god yes! Maybe too much. I'm a narcissistic b*st*rd, and I wouln't have it any other way. I LOVE BEING ME :-4

That said I also surround myself with great people too. Great wife, one son is a perfect angel and the other is a chip off the old block. Plus I got the greatest friends a guy could have.

Despite wonderful friends who constantly praise and compliment me, I have terribble self esteem. I constantly try to overcome blaming him, but I do feel much of the problem is/was my dads fault. Strangers always love me, but I have failed to get the respect of the people I wanted it from the most. My parents, sister, and my sons. My father sees me as a work horse, My mother cant stand being around me, my sister views me as some kind of eccentric, and my sons think Im crazy. Its 4am.... I guess Ill go drink some drano now.
