How did you choose your screen pic?

Post by nvalleyvee »

I grew up with sheep. I mean that literally and figuratively. My uncle and grandparents taught me everything it would take to be a "good" wife. I threw it all away when I went to college and became the only woman to graduate - to date - in my family. I come from a family of men - everywhere - men. I have 6 girl cousins out of 43.

I'm glad to hear you flushed that particular school of thought, valley. Good for you!!

I love anything mythological. Dragons are one of my favorite mythological creatures. Plus it looks evil. :yh_devil :yh_bigsmi

Well BTS - you would have made the girls nervous in our family. I'm glad you moved to Idaho and saw the light! And Mr. Notorious for accusing others of not posting the FULL quote - shame on you. Do you get my point now?

We travel quite a bit, internationally as well as nationally. It was the only Avatar available that depicted travel or a man in motion.

Well done, nvalleyvee! It`s worth going as far as possible academically . But as others have said, sheep-sh*gg*ng is probably more important in places like Wales or NZ!

Oops I meant to add, I chose the avatar because it depicts HUMOUR ("humor" in USA) and OVERWEIGHT - both attributes I possess, hopefully in abundance, and because I love the motion of it moving!

Yvonne de Carlo's public persona has been for many many years my unattainable ideal of womankind. Spot was her TV dog. I didn't imagine, when I edited the image to go with the name, I'd tell anyone that.

I have had this picture for a very long time, it was given to me in MAUI from a Hawaiian friend. Not sure if it is a family member of hers, but I feel it love with the first time I saw it. She told me I looked like her, and she wanted me to have it. I have held it near and dear for many, many years.. :-4 So I use as my pic at any forum I'm a member of. ;)

I chose the tornado & lightning because it fits the stereotype of the Great Plains and KC is smack in the middle of it. I'd like a new one though of a sickle & hammer or a sideshot of Lenin or Pol Pot.

I chose mine because it's the Cheshire Cat! I chose the Cheshire Cat because that's what Doc calls me.

"You know you're up to no good when you're sitting there grinning like the Cheshire Cat" that's what he say.

Also they call me smiley, I always have a smile.

The Chesire Cat

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!

“All right, said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

“Well! I’ve often seen a cat without a grin, thought Alice; “but a grin without a cat! It’s the most curious thing I ever saw in all my life

Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.

The Cat: Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.

Alice: How do you know I'm mad?

The Cat: You must be. Or you wouldn't have come here.

Alice: And how do you know that you're mad?

The Cat: To begin with, a dog's not mad. You grant that?

Alice: I suppose so,

The Cat: Well, then, you see, a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad.

LOVE the cat!

I wondered what that was Marie! A chinchilla! I did notice its little blinking eyes and I had meant to tell you before how cute it is. :)

I wasn't ready to pay for a membership and wanted to test out the Garden first. I love animals (as many of you know) ;) and the rabbit was a keeper. I may decide to get a paying membership eventually and then I will use a photo of me. I used to hide behind my avatars but I found I liked it better when people could see the person behind the words and know that as opinionated as I am, I'm still not too chicken to put my face behind it. :)

We saw a chinchilla at the clinic a few weeks back. Had teeth problems, Doc had to do some filing.

So soft, sweetie!

To be honest, the only thing Trixie likes to do to windows is sit on the sill and look out...like a cat does. When I have her out in her play room, she alsways spends at least a few minutes on the windowsill.
