Its charming, beautiful, fun, and relaxing. I have been several times, as it is only a few hours away from Memphis. The restaurants are fabulous & the coffee shops quaint.
Any other questions?

Your about 1 1/2 hours away from me. You wouldn't get that on the net.
I've been there but it's been so long ago, you'll get more from the net or others.
Always wanted to go back though.

We may go and visit the area in October. California is getting too many people and we just may re-locate. Home prices compared to California are about half for same quality or better.
Thanks for your response.

Did I mention the friendly people? I know I'm over enthusiastic, but it really is a great little town.
sheesh.

A friend of mine is selling his custom home here & building in Hot Springs. There's a (or maybe several) major planned communities focused on the upper end of the comfort spectrum. 1-5 acres, guarded gate, secluded mountain lots or lakefront. He was really impressed.

Surely you jest senor Nomad. I have been to both places and I'm not impressed, besides, I am thinking of re-locating permanately, not just for vacation.

Don't forget in Arkansas they have places where you can dig for diamonds. Don't know if that would appeal to you but I think it sounds like something fun to do.

:wah: A euphemism for what, Acc? No, I was being serious. I'd love to try that. I think most people find garnets but I'd be happy with that too.

Thanks Red, but that's not my thing. We are more into the tennis, golf and the athletic thing. We are in a retirement area now, but this part of California is just getting too many people, that's why we may re-locate.

I think that's where my friend is building. He has a place on a mountain with a view of the lake far below. He says he can't see his immediate neighbors, only the houses down on the lake.

I know what you mean about too many people. That's why we moved out here years ago. Well, that looks like a really nice community offering a lot of things to do. I've never been to Arkansas but I hear the scenery is beautiful. Good luck where ever you move to.

I loved Eureka Springs, LoveLight. Is that anywhere near Hot Springs? I was there in the fall, and it was just beautiful.

Hot Springs is a wonderful place. There is a wonderful lake there if you enjoy time out on a boat, from what I remember there is a great golf course as well. It is a slower pace of life, but still very charming.

Wow, does the missus want to relocate also? That is the #1 factor to consider.
Think long and hard on it. The South is a totally different culture then the West. Be prepared for culture shock, that will never leave.
Pros: Pricing for housing is better, common comodoties are cheaper.
Cons: The Weather-Arkansas has humidity. You will be landlocked, and not by the ocean.
As one who left California for better pastures, I wouldn't do it if given the chance again. Never. I live for the day I retire and go back home.

Thanks for you input.
My wife is amenable to a move, no problem.
I have lived in the South (Tampa) and know humidity.
Not worried about being landlocked---live six months of the year on the ocean in New Zealand
I have been retired for 17 years and can adapt to just about anything.
California has almost 40 million souls now--------too many.
We will visit Hot Springs in October and check the area out.
