Do you attend any kind of religious service at least weekly and if so, do you enjoy it or go because of force of habit?

I think that my years as "Catholic School Girl" rid me of any desire to attend church. Organized religion is oppressive, and my psyche really does not deal well with that. That's probably why, ultimately, I was kicked out of the Catholic school system.

My church is in life. I find my spirituality in the beauty of my surroundings and the people that I am so blessed to have in my life. I really don't need a pew, an altar, and a claustrophobic confession booth to tell me there is something greater.

I feel the same as you love light.I went to a convent school, and the nuns were evil.

I used to go on a regular basis, everytime the doors were opened...And I would love to go now, unfortunately I don't MAKE myself get up on Sunday mornings and a lot of times I have migranes on Sunday from over-doing it on Saturdays and no caffeine...anyway the answer is NO, but I would like to very much.

I grew up in a religious family (my grandfather is a retired Methodist hell fire and brimstone preacher) my parents forced us to go to the Church of Christ which makes Catholics seem like Mardi Gras partiers. We don't attend regularly and are the only ones on my side of the family who doesn't. I basically have constant guilt feelings about not going but really don't feel the need. I have always studied and been interested in the afterlife but organized religion has put me off.

No no I do not, I was raised within the catholic beliefs for about 12 years, and I maintained only one thing from that, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and that has sufficed. I lost more and more faith over time as I watched many great friends and family members struggle and perish with no intervention from a greater being. I could never wrap my head around, pray for a miracle when I did so for many years and nothing happend. And over a span of 18 months I lost 5 people who were very dear to me. I lost faith completely then.

hmmm TMI sorry

I don't go nearly as often as I should. But I do go and help with the youth organizations at the church.

I used to go a lot. One bit of me would still love to be part of the community I grew up with. But then I look at all the latest church scandals, the hypocrisy, the politics - and what people do to other people in the name of their religion, preaching hatred and murder and hell fire for anyone who doesn't agree with their worldview.

These days I try to take time out, go somewhere quiet, sit on a rock maybe or walk in the bush and just marvel that in all the bad stuff, Goodness does still exist.
