"Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars. Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, 'I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight', people would say, 'Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a damn word that comes out of his mouth.' " Michael Jackson

Tell me about college...

Initially (when I was actually on a campus) college was packed full of fun and partying for me....course I was a different person back then, and grades don't do well with all that lack of sleep and, well, studying. After I got some reality, my head was more in the game and I was a dean's list honor student the rest of the way. One of the most important things is to not let yourself get overwhelmed, and to prioritize your time. College is a whole other life from high school, and all the responsibility falls on your shoulders. Took me long enough to finally get through it, but since graduating, I've already gotten 3 raises and a huge promotion, so all the hard work and dedication paid off.

Good luck with it, and I'm sure you'll do fine.

One thing though - make sure to take the advice of your advisor - it really does make a difference in your schedule, etc.

Oh, and unless you're absolutely positive as to what you want to do after college - don't bury yourself under a specific major. Take the bulk of your core courses, and a few various electives to get a feel for what you enjoy.

I hope your not afraid of heights because you will be spending at least one night perched on top of a flagpole, the only thing preventing you from plummeting to the ground being your panties.

Also its more than likely you will wake up in bed with a horses head some morning. Just roll with it. Laugh it off.

One more thing, always always carry glue remover and a safety pin. (Dont ask)

Skittles, I'm so happy that you're so excited about going to college. I agree. I was over the moon and delighted to register back in the day. Good luck.

I would have liked to go to college after high school, but the Korean War had started and was well under way. I would have loved to play college basketball, join a fraternity and do all the fun stuff as well as get a degree. The draft sort of killed that idea and rather than get drafted, I enlisted. I started college at age 21 after I completed my military obligation, I was married and had one child. Thanks to the GI Bill which paid me at that time as a vet with wife and child, $135 per month, working 26 hours per week, I was able to pay tuition and live though meagerly, OK.

Enjoy your college experience.

Hmm, I thought college was for learning...............................:wah:

When I first went to college the ratio of males to females in pre-vet classes was 25:1.....I don't think it is like that anymore. But it sure was fun.................

I'm starting my sophomore year and I love it. It beats the heck out of working a crumby job full time.

I started back after dropping out 10 years ago. Stick with it. I've worked every piece of crud job to afford to get back. I wish I had never left in the first place.

Kudos to you and good luck! Took me 10 full years to finish, although many of those years were conducted in a drug-induced fog, hence the reason for the length of time. Walking across that stage to receive my degree was one of the most memorable and special moments of my life.
