What a Night!

I've had a bad night. First, in my rush to put laundry away, my feet got caught in the dust ruffle, down I went on both knees. Hard.

Only minutes after that, I open the front door and there is a freaken snake! I slammed the door and screamed so loud and long, my daughter came running. It's a wonder the neighbors didn't call the cops! It was at least 3 feet long. We looked on the internet and my daughter and I both think it was a copperhead. I called Al at darts and made him come home long enough to chase it away. :wah:

Aussie Pam , Wonder Wendy and I are on our way to wrassle that damn snake. We're mud wrasslers you know and proud of it. Don't you worry there missy...we'll wrassle that auld snake down and cook him up for tucker. Okies a cowboy and should know a good recipe for snake. Let's ask him:wah:

Put your feet up luv and have a glass of pinot noir that I've just gotten from my cavernous wine cellar. There's snakes down there all the time so I know how to handle them.

I'll feel better just as soon as you all get here and kill that snake. My son has a snake as a pet but it's in an aquarium so I can deal with that. Wild snakes, in my house, I cannot deal with.

Awww Peg, I hope tomorrow is a better day for you....I'm afraid I will have to leave the snake wrasslin to Kathy and Pam, I'm deatly afraid of them, we have copperheads around here too...eek...I'm strickly a mud wrestlin' kinda girl....

Here's a recipe that Peg can cook for hubby tomorrow night:

"Peg's Snake Bites"

Scale ingredients to servings

1 copperhead snake

1/2 oz Malibu® coconut rum

1/2 oz Southern Comfort® peach liqueur

1/2 oz amaretto almond liqueur

1 splash sweet and sour mix

1 splash 7-Up® soda

1 splash grenadine syrup

Mix equal parts of snake, Southern Comfort, Malibu Rum, an Amaretto in a mixing tin over ice. Add a splash or sour mix, grenadine, and 7-up. Shake well. Can be served over ice or as a shot.

Hi Peg,

First off I'll have to say I just hate tripping on things :-5 Puts me in the worst mood-for the whole day (or night)- and causes me to lose concentration and I trip even more :-5

Maybe that snake was a Bull snake? I saw one once and it was HUGE! Makes a terribly scary noise too.

Hope tomorrow is better. Just know you aren't alone.

Way over Down Under - I heard the call !!! And have come to larn that darn snake some manners!!! I'm so sorry about your sore knees Peg!! Kathy's copperhead recipe should do the trick, though we'll ditch any non alcoholic ingredients. Your rhyme won't work here, Valerie - red bellied black snakes don't make good friends in the Aussie bush.

We sometimes get snakes in the garden. Mostly they are just migrating from one point to another and we let them get on with it. But if they hang around, try to come in, argue with pets or if you have small kids.. it's another matter. My grandma - a fierce countrywoman - regularly put paid to unwelcome, slithering visitors. And I'm happy to carry on the family tradition and clobber the critter but good.

I understand funeral rites are in order for the now-deceased reptile.

I revisited one of Sydney's northern beaches recently (hadn't been back there since childhood summer holidays) and came upon the most amazing sea creature I'd ever seen, apparently washed up in a storm, but still very much alive. It was a yellow bellied seasnake. In the words of the late Steve Irwin - beautiful but deadly.. crikey!!

Kathy - me too!! Think my favourite caper was the Klondike, though our Jamaica adventure was pretty cool too. Grin. The picture I posted shows a much larger version of the sea snake. The one I saw was about eighteen inches long and slim.

Last night I watched the blood moon eclipse. Totally awesome. (Found the photo on google, looked just like this though, from my front yard)
