Do you have a joint checking account where both use the account, or do you have a "he," "she" and "we" account? That is, he keeps his money in a separate account, you keep yours in a separate account and have a joint account where both parties deposited equal amounts of money into it just to pay household bills with?
Do you think it's important to keep money separate for personal spending and not have to be accountable to your SO for how it's spent?
All of our accounts, checking, savings, investment, Visa credit card are held jointly and the record keeping, investment and savings decisions are made by me in consultation with spouse. My spouse does not have to answer to me for what she spends or ask my permission. I spent 30 years in the field of Finance and am better equipped to handle our finances. I use Quicken for record keeping. We each have separate income and investments but each has access to the others accounts. It's never been a problem.
My spouse does have one checking and savings account to which I do not have access, and have no idea as to how much she keeps in it. She maintains it for buying gifts that she wants to be a surprise. Money issues have never been a problem for us.

Our accounts are all together. My wife pays the bills and I make the investment decisions.
