I was reading The New York Times and they stated in Mexico police comfiscated 57,000 turtle eggs , apparently it is illegal to harvest them for sale, however it doesnt say what the police did with the eggs, and that you can go to the markets in mexico and purchase them on display along side strips of turtle meat??????

Olive Ridley Turtle Eggs...
Hmm. Maybe it's like the cactus out here- protected by law unless you have a permit to dig them up?
Even if not, I wouldn't be surprised about Mexican markets selling them on the sneak. You can find all kinds of stuff in those places. I think it's a shame though. But I guess people eat anything and everything. That's a heck of a lot of eggs. Where did they get them from? One person or is that a combined total?

The article didnt state if it was a total or all at once, Red, and never stated what they did with all of them.
