Who Has Dual Citizenship?

Post by Lon »

At one time it was a no no, but not anymore. My wife has New Zealand and American citizenship with NZ and American Passports. When we go to New Zealand she goes in on her NZ Passport with me as her spouse because it's a much shorter line than those for tourists and visitors. Coming back to the states we use our American Passports. I could, as her spouse, get NZ citizenship, but their is no advantage in doing so.

I am an Irish Citizen, but I am also a British Citizen by Birth, and I am also an EU citizen, so thats not bad going I suppose. They are all quality citizenships to have, the ones that cost money on the black market.

Just one for me - US

I'll tell ya, we went to Mexico, I show my ID, this border guard was a ass.

They ask the usual questions, what did I buy, reason for visit, then this border guard orders me to give him my purse - he searched my purse - all zipper compartments - threw stuff around.

He said - you came all this way & didn't buy anything? I said yes, I was along for the ride, etc. Then he said, give me your purse..

I've never had that happen before.

I didn't mean to take this thread off course, it just happend recently - scary..

It is scary Patsy,

When we were in Africa they took our passports and kept them until we left. We were so afraid we wouldn't get them back.

I'm working on it. The only reason i won't declare myself an ex-pat in five years is the look on my poor Mother's face when I mentioned it.

my husband will if we ever settle long enough anywhere for him to start on getting his US citizenship. :wah: And, we might apply for Irish citizenship for me and the kids.
