They can bag up to 10 mourning doves or white-winged doves a day. Eurasian doves have no bag limit which disgusts me. Incas and ground doves are illegal ti kill. I especially hate that they can kill mourning doves which are one of the most familiar of our desert birds. I can hear them coo in the morning and it just wouldn't be the same if I didn't.

Dove Season
September 1-15 is one of our two dove hunting seasons. I thought I was hearing firecrackers on the 1st and I opened up the door to see birds flying everywhere. I can hear them popping off little birds in the ravine and I wonder why people think it's necessary or good to do this. We're not talking chickens here, we're talking small birds with not a lot of meat on them.

I know I'll be beaten up for this....
But, sorry....I just don't get "hunting." I don't understanding the joy in killing a living animal. I've heard every reason why people love hunting and still don't agree.

I'm with you Kathy Ellen this is the 21st Century we do't have to kill animals to feed our families. We aren't cavemen any longer, well some of us are.:wah:
So stop killing the animals just for the sport of hunting. We kill enough to feed the world twice a day.

I can't understand how anyone can justify killing anything - just for the fun of killing... for sport. In self defence - even pre emptive self defence, for food.... Okay, but to extinguish life just because you can and you enjoy it ... geesch.
Spring has brought out the local crested doves here - I call them floopling doves, because when they fly, they let out a freaky kind of flooply sound. Sort of endearing.
PS Indian Princess - Dove is a kind of soap here.
