We knew that it would be coming sooner or later. My son's unit command has received their deployment orders. They will go to 29 palms in Dec., and will be in Iraq by March. The baby is due Sept. 4th. (Provided that it is his) he will be leaving his first child before it is 3 months old to go serve. Individual orders are expected to arrive by June.

My husband and I where stationed in 29 Palms for 2 years- my husband swears he would rather be in Iraq then 29 stumps! I still feel for you, my husband deployed twice- the second time, our daughter was only 5 weeks old! I will definatly keep him in my prayers! :-4

I don't think you realize how large your extended family is. Your son's a Marine. No man is more honorable. No organization is more supportive. His brothers all have families in your situation. They will help you just as you will help them. Semper fi.

I do realize it, Acc. I am a member of Marine Moms Online also. Somehow there is just never enough "extended" though. Know what I mean?

Thank you Clipper. After seeing the responses here, I plan show him the entire thread! I think that it will mean more to see it for himself. Then he will also be able to note from how far away the well wishes are coming. :-4

It has been signed, sealed, and delivered. My son will leave home to begin desert combat training on Sept. 9th. :-1 His first child, a son, was born yesterday. :-6 We had been praying for the delivery so that he would have a little time with the baby before he left. If all goes well, he will see his son again at Christmas when he is about 3 months old. Then, if we are all lucky, he might be home in time for his first birthday. (That is really pushing it. They don't expect to be home until almost 3 weeks later.)

Let me tell you about the wedding that I was invited to. It is tomorrow at 1:00 PM (daycare nap time) AT MY HOUSE!!!!! My son informed me of it at around noon today! He said that there would only be 5-7 people excluding himself, the bride, their baby and the Justice of the Peace. His fiance called me less than 2 hrs later to let me know that we are now up to 20!! AND her mother will be at my home around 10:30 tomorrow morning "to start setting up"! Now if it was just the 2 families, it would all be good. Now my neighbors, none of whom were invited, will see all these strange people at my son's wedding and know they are not the bride's family........and you can imagine the rest!! Not to mention, I will have daycare parents showing up in the middle of the ceremony to get their kids if it starts even 10 minutes late. I should probably add that I think this is a HORRIBLE mistake in the first place. She has been unfaithful in the past and we have a baby from that very time frame that my son refuses to have a paternity test done on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So...how is your day going? Jimbo, please have a great bday, but don't tell me about it right now. :)

Wedding is over. Family pictures were taken by a pro last evening without my hubby present because no one could wait for the weekend so that he could be home. My daughter set them up. I thought of skipping them myself on general principle (excluding her father), but decided I would prefer not to have regrets should something happen to our son in Iraq. When I got home, I called 2 neighbors to request that they come over this weekend and snap some shots with digital cameras. EVERYONE will be able to be in those!

We will leave Sunday to take my son to his unit base. He must be in formation at 07:30 Monday morning. His base is a 4 hr. drive one way from our home. Again, everyone in the family plans to go along except the hubby.

Exactly 2 weeks later, is our 25th wedding anniversary. I think we will be skipping any sort of celebration until our 26th so that, by the Grace of God, we can all be together for it. Maybe we will celebrate the baby's first birthday, the son's first wedding anniversary and our 26th at the same time!

The Marines put a lot of pressure on him to "do the right thing." They don't know that another member of the same unit may be the daddy of the baby and he won't tell anyone. I think he is in denial, or maybe he just needs to know that someone will carry on the name if something happens to him. I'm not sure.

I agree that 25 years is an accomplishment and God knows it hasn't been any cake walk. I just don't think that I will be up for any celebration until my baby is home safely. But when he gets home...LOOK OUT WORLD!! We may have something small here at the house with our neighbors. That will be if the force the issue, which they probably will thinking that it is in my best interest to take my mind off the other things going on right now. And Magenta has done the sweetest thing in the world for me. You will all know the details of it in due time.

Thanks for all the support!!! I feel like a whiney baby! lol Your prayers and well wishes are the best medicine that I have found up to this point.
